I take a lot of steroid meds and one of the worst side effects is hot sweats, usually around bedtime. The sweat pours off me - I'm only 28 and its like the menopause! Any way to prevent or at least relieve this?

If I wanted to "just deal with it" do you think I'd have bothered asking?!

Need to have your liver functions checked, could be a side effect of the steroids, checked with your doc?
You could try cutting down on caffeine and gouing on to herbal teas, I also take a cool shower before bed. I also use Bachs rescue remedy this is a little tincture you spray under your tongue.you can get it from Boots or other big chemists/herbal shops. Also those little yoghurt drinks they are selling, I quite like yakult. You could also try acupuncture or reflexology both are excellent. I know these work as I would wake up in the morning soaked but am a lot better now. Just try them one at a time see what works for you.

Been going through the hot flushes myself for 3 years now and no help from doctors unless you want HRT.With the menopause you are lacking estrogen which can be put back with the use of soya products like tofu, soy nuts etc but in 10% of cases such as myself I have had to use progesterone cream from ebay.Cant have it on prescription. The nightly hot flushes not gone but very greatly reduced.Took me a long time to find out what worked for me but the best bet is to try for yourself, we are all different.

I'm sure that boots chemist do something to help with hot flushes. They aren't nice and you just can't deal with it. If not HRT may be an option but i know that not everyones body can cope with it,

Try herb teas used by women to diminish bad effects of menopause. E.g. with lady's mantle, calendula, cat’s worth.

There's a medicine for that called estroven. It's sold over the counter at any drugstore.

Seriously, there is no way to prevent OR relieve it that is worth doing. Just deal with it.
