You'll need more than just snacks. Most parent anticipate lunch being served. Pizza is a good choice, stick with a couple cheese and a couple pepperoni. Its the cheapest rout. 1 pizza will feed about 5 kids, don't forget to include the parents when planning. Get about 3 bags of asst. chips, Apple slices are great you can get just one bag and slice them up. If you don't feel like apples try celery or carrot stix, they're cheap too. You should definatly offer a healthy snack. And maybe a cheap package of half white half chocolate generic oreos. After that and cake the kids will be more than full. For drinks cool-aid is cheap, so is brewing your own sweet tea. As far as goodie bags go to the dollar store: Fancy pencils, stickers, maybe a small bouncing ball and a few pieces of candy. The goodie bag toy always end up lost and forgotten a few days later anyway, no matter what they are. Use your imagination and have fun.

My advice is this....kids will eat as long as there is food, so the more food you have the more they will eat. I don't think it's necessary to stuff them like little piggies. I'd likely have a platter of fruit (slices of watermelon, pineapple, strawberries etc), then maybe a couple of bowls of chips or pretzels, some lemonade and/or juice and then maybe have a cupcake for each of them to decorate and provide sprinkles, chocolate chips, little candies - that way they also have an activity to keep them occupied for a bit.
Unless you're having them over for a meal, I don't think I'd offer them more than that.

Last time I did this I just bought 5 bags of chips-5 year olds are easy-5-6 frozen cheese pizzas-cut them into little squares-and 3 boxes of brownies cut them into mini squares-and ofcourse cake-for entertainment I had them decorate cookies and they got to take the cookies home in a little baggie(instead of having a treat bag)-I just bought disposable table clothes and taped them to the floor-clean up was super easy-and I spent like $50!!!

I would probbaly buy three bags of chips, have somebody bake a cupcake for each kid. Also just pick up a big bag of candy to put int the treat bags, then a few little goodies.....GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I would honestly ask parents to chip in...like have one kid bring chips, one bring drinks, one bring napkins, etc that is how teacher's always seem to do it...you could provide the other things like the candy for goody bags....if you aren't comfortable asking the parents just remember that you are watching the kids at the party and therefore it is like free babysitting for them and buying one item is less expensive then if they were feeding their child a whole meal.....Good Luck :)

I find if they have lots of organised games and things to keep them busy they don't really eat that much anyway. A couple of bowls of lollies and chips maybe some cheerios and sandwhiches and fruit will be heaps. Don't forget the cake!

Lots of finger foods. If you want to save money you could have little treat bags, but I know my kids are monster eaters!!
