I always feel tired. I know I lead an active lifestyle (I run 20 to 30 miles a week, have a gardening job, and play recreational tennis), but I eat and drink a lot and try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. But I never feel refreshed and end up falling asleep during the day. Is something wrong?

I am the same way. My wife wonders why I am so tired all of the time, but the truth is that a little nap during the day is really good for you. Peoples bodies are so different. My wife can just keep going for all hours. I am very active as well, I lift weights, run, and work all day, but I usually find that a good nights rest sneaking in a little nap helps a lot. I know that athletes are recommended to get about 10 hours of sleep. So, it depends on so many different things, but your body will tell you what it needs and you should respond.

I have problems with being tired as well and have been tested for almost everything under the sun. You could have a thyroid problem, diabetes, a sleep disorder such as sleep apnea or restless legs sydrome, or maybe you are anemic. It could be as simple as needing to be on a regular schedule such as going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time every day (even on the weekends). Eating 3 balanced meals at the same time everyday. Even could have something to do with what you're eating, maybe your not eating enough of the right things, etc. Even a possiblity that your schedule is "too" busy and you've worn yourself down to the point of getting mononucleosis. I've even been told that I have a rare form of narcolepsy, where I just feel tired all the time. Its really hard to say, but the best thing is to schedule an apointment with your doctor and let he/she know what is going on.

I had that same problem and my doctor told me I was feeling lethargic due the fact I wasn't getting enough Seritonin. He put me on Prozac for a while and it worked wonders and I'm all better now.

You really should see a doctor about this. It is NOT normal, even at your activity level. It could be anything from a thyroid problem to the onset of diabetes or a vitamin deficiency. Please see a doctor.

Try taking a multivitamin and increasing your caloric intake. Also, try to put yourself on a regular sleep schedule, if you aren't already on one.
