my older cousin monique has two children one boy and one girl but the problem is, is that she practically has no control over the children they throw tantrums, slap her, embarrass her in public places and scream at her. i think she should spank them but she wants to really know if she should, do you all think she should?

there is a very big difference between spanking and abusing no parent should ever abuse a child but a few taps on the butt won't hurt.

Spanking is a great thing and works well as long as you don't spank them for every little thing. Time outs are a joke...don't use them.

They say that consistancy is the key. You need to tell her to put the kids in the corner or on a time out chair for a minute of every year they are so say their two then two minutes. It will seem impossible at first but it really does work. Take toys away that they really love too when they're acting up but also explain to them that they're still loved but they wont get it back til they do what they are asked. try letting her know about those types of things. I tried the spanking but all it really did was make my son cry and heart my feelings. I don't think it's a bad punishment those as long as it's done in a non abusive way.

It's really up to her if she believes spanking is right or not. What she should start doing - and it will be very hard at first, is to set rules for her kids and let them know that if they disobey or act out they will be punished - whether in public or at home. Disciplining could be a time out, a spanking, or taking away TV (if they are old enough). The basic principle here is that she set rules and if the kids disobey - she ALWAYS follows through with the punishment. After a while her kids will realize that acting out isn't worth it and they will learn to listen and respect their mother, and other adults.

Spanking alone is not the solution.
Most of the time when kids go wild the parents let them by not disciplining them and/or following up.
She should start to teach her kids that they need to straighten out their act, or something will happen, and make sure that it does threatening to ground/spank take away tv time does not work unless it is done, even if it inconveniences the parent.
If a kid misbehaves in the store, leave and come back later by yourself, and make sure the kids don't enjoy the tim ein between.
Dot care about someone having to clean up etc

How old are these children? To me it sounds like they both need a good spanking but as some of the others here have stated, that is really their mother's decision to make.

what would make the days and nights fun is if those kids were on ritalin and then they found out it causes cancer and heart problems they got hit with the belt in the eye and face they got sat on top of and got beat by there parents and teachers and horse wipped beat with a spoon or spatula or electrical cord of a vacume and then get beat by bullies at school and some soap in the mouth and not feed them lots of times and let them sleep out side in the cold in bare feet there is nothing like a good backhand with a nice boot or foot to the private areas from front or behind that always gets you feeling swell and then to top it off maybee a little beer glass full splashed in there eyes that will make them see the light & make shure to call them cs'r wile your at it may bee listen to the divorced parents talk krap about each other and they can be in the middle if you cant handle this dont read it

Yep! Most most likely she simplest hit him when you consider that she notion she'd break out with it, so by means of being hit again you'll be taught to maintain your fingers to your self. I'd not ever hit a man for no purpose :/

She should spank them. It worked on me. But kids copy what they see so she might need to make some changes herself.

well yeah spanking them will tell them that she's the boss and she is in control. either that or timeout (if that doesn't work lock them in a closet for 2 days..... sike that's abuse) i hope your cousin makes theright decision

She should spank them (bare butt with her hand or a paddle) and ground them to their rooms with no privileges at all.
