And if so, do you see this as a bad or a good thing? I know I would certainly prefer to go to an inclusive, loving, more Christ-like church vs. the opposite.

The issue is homophobic bigotry I think, yes, I think homophobic bigots will split the church.

There is unwillingness shown by some religious zealots to accept the findings of the medical and psychiatric professions that our sexuality is inherent and fixed in early infancy...certainly well before puberty, sexuality is not a choice and cannot be changed successfully, it is no more a sin than being a blond or a brunette.

Let’s recognize that basing a view on religion doesn’t exempt it from critical moral scrutiny. (Slaveholders quoted the bible too.)

I think that the Episcopal church is close to splitting. I am Episcopal by the way. I don't think that its necessarily over gay people. The Episcopal church has always been pretty accepting of gay people and putting women in equality with men. The problem is really about the softening of the word of God. God specifically says that Homosexuality is wrong, so to make a Gay bishop is blasphemy. He is openly having sex with someone he is not married to, and that is adultery. Whether or not it is a man or a woman isn't necessarily the issue. If he was straight and had sex with his girlfriend, i think it would be a scandal. But the fact that he's gay makes it ok, and that's absolutely crazy. How can he give advice or discipline priests when they do something wrong, when he's living in sin everytime he goes home?

Churches have already split over this issue. Not just because of gay people but some churches have allowed homosexuals to be ministers. This has caused a lot of controversy. Most churches aren't going to exclude ANYONE from coming through the doors of their churches.

I think it is possible, yes. I think it might be a good thing though because we can see more clearly which churches follow Christ (churches of Christ are loving and do not hate, 1 John 4:8).

Written in Proverbs, God blesses a man when He finds a Wife. It is God's purpose for God created them male and female. God heals the gay person when they confess Jesus Christ Lord. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus.

The bible faith Christian church would obey Christ. Someone preaching contrary to God's Written Word is not the Christian Church and there is not the Salvation message in it. One cannot be born again, a child of God and abide in sin. So people practicing, abiding in sexual sins are sinners needing a Savior.

Jesus said, "Let him without sin cast the first Stone. Where are your accusers. Neither do I accuse You. Your sins are forgiven. Go and sin no more.".

Why not. Churches are split over most decisions anyway. This is just one more "topic" in a long list of many...

It's already happened. People left churches because of the gay bishop in NH. (My state YAY!) It's bad thing. People need to get over it.

Of course they will. But they've split up before over more stupid issues than homosexuality. Christians on the whole are daffy anyway.

God loves gay ppl, who has the right to turn away any sinner from entering God's 'house' who are in search of God? you are speaking on behalf of all xtremely conservative christians, dont judge ppl....But i do think the sinful lifestyle that gays live should be changed eventually in there search for God in order to live a Godly lifestyle ya know?

I think it is possible. Gay people want to be included in the church, but many Christians do not want them there. I wish they would not split, just let all people be welcome.
