Prom used to be a celebration & social event, but not it's more of a fashion show, function for how healthy your wallet (or your father's wallet) may be.

Um I think that prom should be a celebration, and I had the times of my life at both of mine. There are definetly deals out there-- my jewelry wasn't real and my dress was from filene's but I still felt confident. I guess guys might feel differently especially if they are trying to impress someone, but the girls you want to be are the ones who are flattered by the small things, not the opening of your wallet. Hold the door, take out her seat-- its priceless.

If you're not trying to follow the "in crowd" then you must be a confident girl. I would spend as much money as i wanted because it is a once in a lifetime experience. Do it for yourself NOT FOR OTHERS!!! look good for yourself and possibly your date ;)
