If you are talking about restless leg syndrome, then, "In most cases of restless legs syndrome (RLS), no cause can be found. When no cause can be found, the condition is called primary RLS. It is known, however, that primary RLS tends to run in families. People whose parents have RLS are more likely to develop the disorder. This suggests that there may be a genetic link that increases the chance of getting RLS."

Lots more info on primary and seconeary RLS at site below. Hope that helps!

If you have pain in your legs that could be RLS, you need to have an iron level, a ferritin, and a CBC checked. The symptoms of RLS often mimic those of anemia.

What causes restless leg syndrome?

The cause of restless leg syndrome is unknown in most patients. However, restless leg syndrome has been associated with pregnancy, obesity, smoking, iron deficiency and anemia, nerve disease, polyneuropathy (which can be associated with hypothyroidism, heavy metal toxicity, toxins, and many other conditions), other hormone disease, such as diabetes, and kidney failure (which can be associated with vitamin and mineral deficiency). Some drugs and medications have been associated with restless leg syndrome including caffeine, alcohol, H2-histamine blockers (such as Zantac and Tagamet) and certain antidepressants (such as Elavil).

After reading the above I wonder if improved nutriton might help. Many of the conditions associated with RLS are often times Diet Related, such as obesity, diabetes.
