We recently dipped her for fleas, but I have never had a dog do this before. It is not on her entire body either, it is on about half of her body, her back half.

My dog is a light brown color, but her skin on her back side is a grayish color. It wasn't like that a week or so ago.

if it is something NEW, take her to the vet ; make sure there is nothing wrong with her ( like a nasty skin disease ..

Dogs skins are often patchy coloured, beneath there coat , even quite light coloured dogs ,have patches of pigment from birth ( this is normal )

. Be assured by seeing the vet

Some fungal diseases may cause such thing.

But if you dipped her into something, some chemicals are responsible for that most probably.

Women also bleach and colour then hairs using compositions with hydrogen peroxide, strong oxidizer. It is used in medicine to wash wounds sometimes, because it forms bubles of oxygen during break, and oxygen disinfects and brings contaminants to a surface.

I do not know the composition of preparation you used, other things could cause the change in colour too.

Fleas make dogs allergic, maybe hair follicles reacted so?

If you have a concern the first thing to do is call the vet, only a qualified vet who can look at it can possibly answer the question correctly. If you child turned a funky color would you go online and ask random strangers what to do? No you take them to a dr.....Your dog deserves the same :)

What do you mean by discolored. Do you mean red/pink color? If you mean this, I had a Shepard that had a skin condition and her skin would turn reddish and she would scratch at it a lot. We had to get a cream from the vet for it. That helped.

It could be an allergic reaction to the fleas, or the flea shampoo. Try giving her some benadryl, call your vet to find out how much to give her.

if you take her to many baths her coat will fade or if she is shedding her overcoat(shedding hair) isn't the same color as her over undercoat.
