we moved in about a year ago and i just LOATHE the nasty off-white/pale yellowish colors the default newly built homes with.

i'm playing off these gorgeous russet rose sheets and trying natural green walls.

i'm just looking for suggestions and a few tips to help me out,
i have no clue where to even start!

4) the lighting in this room is terrible. it's a typical flush mount that gives off a dull orangy glow. what are some practical, modest lighting setups i can use in a small bedroom to give it a clear shine?

Take one of those Russet Rose pillowcases you love & a paint chip of the green paint color you like & go buy a new bedspread (or quilt or duvet cover for your old one).Be sure to remember what color of floor you have also.

A lot of design depends on texture & color. Your bedding might be a colorful print or graphic OR gorgeous textured fabrics. Pull your accent colors out of your bedding. Have fun!

You might look for a simple ceiling light fixture with a halogen bulb or perhaps a small ceiling fan with light attached.

I would start with new bulbs that use a white light, as well as a new shade for the existing fixture. Home Depot, or Lowe's will have an inexpensive, simple fixture you can get that will be more modern than what's there, and with a cleaner light.

A new coat of paint in the room will also (fairly obviously) change the way the fixture lights up the room.

Don't forget to consider your window coverings as a part of the lighting...If these are off-white, they could be sending light into the room that's not as bright as you're looking for (either by transmitting thru the curtains, or by bouncing off the blinds).

Additionally, whatever is outside the window will also have an impact on the lighting in the room...For example, my landlord just built a putting green and driving cage just outside my spare room window...This has dramatically changed how the room looks, as the reflected light thru the window is very green.

See Number 1. Even in a small room, lighting is important, but did you know you can also get away with a ceiling fan in here with a light kit. The new reveal bulbs give off a more natural lighting when you need workable lighting. Otherwise I would use two matched candle lamps on the dresser in front of a mirror and it will cast additional light back into the room.

See Number four. After answering the opposite 4 questions, this one type of negates the whole lot else. If you readily MUST have a poster at the wall, a minimum of grasp at the again of the door out of view out of your through now wonderful room! As for the pinned pics, even low cost frames disheveled in colours taken from the decor will make a declaration on a gallery wall. Instead of varied snapshots, cross to walmart or someplace they have got a pc and crop, magnify and create special black and white snap shots in more than a few sizes. Since roses are featured on your plans, why now not duvet a bulletin board with a remnant of satin. You can then criss go ribbon in yet another colour making a cutomized bulletin board with the intention to mixture together with your new room. Good good fortune.

Well, with all the discount home retailers these days, getting a fairly inexpensive light fixture is pretty easy (Home Depot, Lowes, Menards). Additionally, retailers like Pier One, Target and Hobby Lobby offer a wide selection of accent lamps that can really dress up a room.

I love accent lamps--easy to install, cheap (if you're a good shopper), easy to change (new shades).

Well...you could start by looking at diffent magazines for ideas. Check out Pottery Barn, Southern Living, Better Homes & Gardens or any other decorating magazine. I'm a Southern Living At HOME consultant and have helped people, but need a little more info. Pictures of the location and such.

I love chandeliers. Try using a small chandelier to lighten up the room a bit...
