I want to recommend the Ford Hybrid Escape as well. I drive a minivan and I almost bought one. I didn't because I wanted more room to carry things. I feel the Escape would have saved me money over the long run because I keep cars 5 years. In that time the savings in gas because of the higher mileage of the Escape would have more than made up the extra cost of getting the Hybrid.

You have to drive the Hybrid gently to get the best mileage. Only mash down when you need to for safety, not all the time. It has great pick-up, but it's best if you don't use it unless absolutely necessary.

I've had a Toyota Highlander for about six months, and have been very impressed. It's built on the Camry platform, and rides and handles like a car -- but the all wheel drive cuts through snow, and with the optional third seat, it seats seven. (well, if the two in the "'way back" are small children.)
Of course, like all Toyotas, it comes with something perfectly useless -- the warranty. I've owned over a dozen (if you count Lexus, which is made by Toyota) and never had more than little sniggles that required a dealer's attention.

Depends on your Budget. The Acura MDX is a good buy, however, from personal experiance the Mercedes ML 320 is a great SUV. Drives perfectly like a car.

Sorry to be obnoxious, but what is the big deal with minivans? They get much better gas mileage than SUV's. Are you so rich that you can afford unnecessary gas?

Land Rover Freelander. I work at a Land Rover dealership, and since everyone is obsessed with huge cars, they're practically giving Freelanders Away

You must have a huge family. I could fit two kids in a mini truck's space cab til they were nearly grown. Of course. there's no status attached to a small truck.

I have a Saturn VUE and LOVE it. I wouldn't trade it for anything. They are very efficient, have tons of power, and are adorable. Very roomy, too! Plus, you can't beat purchasing a Saturn - the salespeople are great (I think it might actually be a cult, however, so beware!!! lol)!
