I have no money to go places and the weather outside is already very hot. I have a problem with heat. We do go outside everyday to the park which is right around the corner. But after a while they get bored with that. Most activites indoors are hard because the 1 1/2 year old is a little terror. My 3 year old cannot paint or do other arts and crafts unless the younger one is asleep. What activities can I do indoors that they both can be a part of?

You will need to use your creativity, the kids at that age loose easily the atention so you have to give them activities that will spend just little ammounts of times, so you will have to figure out something else very quickly.

I hope you get many ideas in here, but remember that they will be bored again very quick, so you have to have in mind all of the ideas, and try one, and try anohter, and the be back to the first one.

I have some i used with my own son. You can make them be in a place with rytmic music, most of the kids can spend some minutes dancing, really, most of them enjoy the music a lot, and try to do movements when they hear it. Of course you have to encourage them to do it, if they see you moving, they will try to copy you. Teach them to sing, you will be amazed of how they try, even if they don't speak well, they will try to sing, if the younger one see the older one singing, he will try to follow.

I had a big bunch of colored covers of the bottles on diferent sizes, you know like the spray, or the mousse or that kind of products, i put a blanket in the floor, and have them in there, my son used them to make sounds, you can use some plastic bottles of your kitchen, and teach them to use them as drums.

You can teach them to "exercise" you know, with the music make them to do "exercise" as a game, loof for a safe place, like with a mattress in the floor, and make them jump, turn, took their toes with their fingers ( for them it will be so easy ), and you have to make it look as a game.

What about painting with their body, use water color, and put big pieces of paper in the floor (protect the rest of the floor with an old blanket. And give them those water color and let them paint with their fingers and all of their hands, and even with ther foots!!! maybe you will have fun as well.

I have run out of ideas, but as i told you you will have to use your imagination, because any of them will not hold the little monsters, more than one hour!!!

Why does the 1 1/2 year old have to be asleep? including the baby in the arts and crafts would probably have a positive effect on his/her manners, maybe be less of a terror. Some age-appropriate discipline wouldn't hurt.

Sidewalk chalk is great for both. Also, fill a small pool for wading. Get them involved in helping you plant flowers or vegetables. Put the baby in a stroller and take a family walk, picking flowers or collecting bugs. Spread a blanket and have a fun picnic. Make a tent using two chairs and a blanket. Let them help pick up the yard--rocks, cig butts, paper, sticks, etc.

Read stories to them. Ask the 3 yr. old to make up stories. The attention span of the 1 1/2 yr. old may be a problem with reading to him/her. Rolling a ball around on the floor works well too. Whatever you do, keep your sense of humor so you can keep your sanity.
