I have a cat, but I most certainly do not beat her. Anyone who beats their cat, or any animal for that matter, should be taken out and beaten themselves; see how they like it!

Millions of people own cats and MOST treat them well. Why anyone would beat a cat or any animal is beyond me. There is no law saying anyone is required to own a pet. Therefore if a person doesn't like them they simply should not own them.
A side note: If you are thinking of adopting a cat, conider an adult. Kittens are cute but they take a lot of time and effort. Many adult cats are waiting for adoption who will happily move right on in, settle down and show you their gratitude every day!

I own a cat. She is disciplined. I use a spray bottle of water and spray her when she does something wrong. Beating a cat is illegal and inhumane. If a person is caught beating a cat then they will be charged for animal cruelty. Want to go to jail for hitting a cat? If a cat is mis- behaving then take an obedience course and correct the behavior.

I have two cats. Never beat a cat!!!!!! How cruel. Cats are very smart. They will usually pick up what you are saying by the tone of your voice. Just be consistent. Use a more jolly tone for normal interaction, so they will realize that they are good. Use a very stern tone when you are mad, so they will know they have done something bad. Even if my cat looks like he is getting ready to jump on the kitchen table, I say "No Smokey!" in a low, stern voice and he walks away and finds something else to do.

I have 5 cats in my house and I would never, ever beat any of them. I do train them, but with love and consistency. Not beatings, beating an animal or person accomplishes absolutely nothing. I know that if I make a mistake or do something wrong, as we all do sometimes, I would not want someone to beat me for it.

You can really see the difference between the west and 3rd world nations by reading some of the questions here. In the west we do not, as a whole, beat out cats.

I have one cat and she is my life. I would never lay a hand on her. Animals deserve caring, loving, good homes etc. People who hurt animals should be shot or put in jail and have what they did to the animal done to them. I am happy to read everyone that answered feels the same way I do.

I own 3 cats and have NEVER beaten them. They don't speak the same language as you so if you talk to them, they don't necessarily understand.
For that matter, neither does an infant....do you beat them cuz they don't understand?
There are severe punishments for animal abuse and anyone who beats a defensless animal should be beaten themselves!!!
