I think the best way to work around this cliche that so many Christians use is to look at historical Biblical figures and see what they did when they wanted to accept Christ.
For two examples to get you started see Acts 2 were Peter preaches his first sermon and Acts 8 where the apostle Philip converts an Ethiopian eunuch. The book of Acts is full of people with the same ambitions for Christ.

Having "Jesus in your heart" is just an expression, but I think you already know that, which means giving your life to Him because He died for you. If your question is a serious one then all you have to do is tell Jesus you are sorry for your past sins and ask Him to be the Lord of your life. Then start reading the Bible and praying each day. It's also good to find a non-denominational church to attend for support and growth.

There are at least 45,000 Protestant churches in the U.S.
What caused all these different beliefs if the MESSAGE is so clear?
What makes you believe that you have more than a 1 in 45,000 chance of being in the 'correct' church?
Virgin Birth - A preconceived notion?
What is the Imacculate Conception?
An Imacculate deception?
Betcha don't know.
Did Jesus give up Saturday for us?
Jesus? Christianity? .
If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.
Gods do not die? Do they?
If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?
If Jesus died for our sins, thre should not be any more sins.
If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!

By believing in your heart that Jesus shed His blood for the remission of your sins and that He rose from the dead victorious for your justification. By confessing with your mouth Jesus is Your Lord. That You will trust and obey Him. This is confession and commitment. This is how you ask Jesus into your heart. He comes by love into your heart.
You cannot be saved from head knowledge. You have to believe from the heart. That is where the heart cleansing happens and Jesus blood cleanses you white as snow. Then you are a new person in Christ Jesus and the old stinky person is washed away. Yes it is sort of open-heart surgery and the living water is the Holy Spirit. We need to renew our minds in His Holy Word. This washes our brains from stinkin thinkin. You seek Him in the written Word (bible) and Prayer.

Take a look at what Jesus did for us - we are separated from His Father by sin, Jesus gave His life to pay for what we could not - He already gave all of His heart and life for you. You can choose to give all of your life and heart to Him. It s your choice because it is based on love, not obligation or ceremony or tradition. We love Him because He first loved us. That s what Christians mean - that you give your heart in love and receive the gift of forgiveness that Jesus paid for with his life. You do that by talking to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer. No magic words. Speak from your heart. I pray this helps anyone who is truly seeking. The Bible says no one comes to the Father unless the Spirit draws Him - so if you have had a yearning to get close to our Lord, it is likely He is reaching out to you because He loves you unconditionally - no strings attached. The good news is that God is not mad at you because of what his son Jesus did so you can have a personal, intimate love relationship with the God that knew you before the foundations of the world.

He is allready with you, drop all the sarcastic awnsers, pray, surround yourself with people who support you, but it seems like you llready know this. People somtimes think that once you beleive in God, become a christian, you are allways spiritually close, wrong, it gets harder, everyone goes through times where they question, or feel further and further from Him, its normal, we all have to re-evaluate things sometimes. dont get discouaged, i did, but found that i was not alone, you have God all around you if you are quet enough to listen to youre heart, youll find him in places everyday you never thought to look
