If you have seen combat, were you a believer before or after the experience? Don't answer if too disturbing of a question. I've been there, got the hat and the T shirt, I understand. GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS

Captain Captain....I need not explain my bravery to you, but here goes......I never said, I was a Christian in a foxhole... I didn't confess my sins and become a Christian until after I returned from combat. Bravery died on the cross, for you and me, but I was more afraid of meeting that man face to face than I was any mortal trying to shoot me. Re-enlist if you still wish to do battles. I'm done! LOVE IN CHRIST

Christian here, serving again much like yourself as a civilian. I served many years on regular AD and again as a recalled reservist on 3 separate sets of orders since 9/11. Funny thing is in all of my military time all live fire was on a range... I've been shot at more as a civ than as an armed service member.
I became a believer about a year before coming to Iraq... though my previous military service didn't have anything to do with my acceptance of Christ... it was something altogether different.
In all that I can say that I was scared once.... when they tried to put me in 3rd row seating in an uparmored SUV with no way out in case of accident or fire.... THAT scared me!
Ted Kennedy and his car have seen more death up close than me....

I been through my own personal war. My brother and sister were in Desert Storm up close. My sister's husband was the commander that planned that war under General Swartzkoff. The details of which is classified.
Just remember this:
"There are no atheists in foxholes." They will be cowering in fear and trembling on their weak and shaky knees when faced with their own death.

Well, I was an atheist before and after, not that that matters to you, apparently...
Apparently, you and ddead have never visited the link before, either. Nice insult, though. One day perhaps you'll understand what true bravery is... to be willing to die for what you feel is right, without the safety blanket of going to heaven afterwards.
Trust me, you're the ones with the shaky knees. You make me sick.

I also do not know how it feels to personally have seen war, but I did have a person very close to me that has and her vibe gives me a little experience. It was my mother and she was gone for three years. I have always believed and so has my mom, but she doesn't always necessarily agree with our president but that is something completely different. When my mother finally came home she told us how it was there and what she told us made me and my sister cry. Thank you for being brave and standing strong for our country. God bless you all!

My husband went into the Marine Corps and became a Christian a few years later. During his 20 years in, he served during Desert Storm.
He doesn't like to talk about it much. It's possible to be committed to a course of action and believe it is necessary, but still dislike the process.
He went into war believing in God, and he still believes in God.

i entered the marine corps as an atheist and left the marine corps as an atheist. i served in two wars and never once during combat did i ever pray to any god. and as far as ddead is concerned, i consider it an insult to every american soldier who has ever fought for this country, when you attack their bravery. only true cowards like your self ever do things like that.

I'm very blessed to say that I don't know how that feels. I've been incredibly lucky to stand behind my troops and not in front of them. It's a sacrifice I'm not woman enough to make. Bless you for your sacrifice. God bless all our troops forever.
