All surfaces have bacteria. This includes your bathroom and living room.
The "5 second" rule makes absolutely no sense, as bacteria will not wait for 5 seconds.
If you want to be sure, do not eat anything that has dropped on the floor. Anywhere. Even TicTacs.

The rule is not true. Even if something falls on the floor and is there for a second, it still has alot of bacteria on it. Just throw whatever you drop away. It is not worth getting sick over.

Five second rule is valid and you can stretch it to seven if you blow off the germs before you eat it.
Bathrooms however are immune from the rule but that's O.K. with me. We seldom eat dinner in the bathroom.

I wouldn't eat it if it fell in my house! do you know how many germs are on the bottom of your shoes, then you walk around your house and track them. when ever you feel the urge just think about the bacteria from dog feces and how it looks under a microscope.

My toddler eats food off our kitchen floor all the time. It is unappetizing to us adults, but apparently assists in the growth of the immune system in small children. So be it.
