The most common symptoms are itching and irritation of the vagina and/or vulva, and a whitish or whitish-gray discharge that may have a "yeasty" smell like beer or baking bread. It may resemble cottage cheese. Many women mistake the symptoms of the more common bacterial vaginosis for a yeast infection. In a 2002 study published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, only 33 percent of women who were self treating for a yeast infection actually had a yeast infection. Instead they had either bacterial vaginosis or a mixed-type infection. Currently, bacterial vaginosis can only be diagnosed during a doctor's visit.

Hi hun,
Yeast infections can be tricky to detect. I had one and had no pain or itching. But, one thing that really gives a yeast infection away is discharge. If you are having discharge that is thick and it may be smelly, and your period is weeks away, it may be a yeast infection. Another tell tale sign is that you have to pee alot.
Don't be fooled by some discharge. Women naturally have thicker discharge just before their period. Our bodies natural defence against intruders (sperm) is our wetness 'down there'. It is made up of bacteria that help fight it and it gets thicker just when we drop an egg.
The best sure fire way to know, ask your doctor.
A great way to stave off infections is to drink cranberry juice or take cranberry pills. Everytime I feel one coming on (you get to know your body really well), I take a few cranberry pills or drink the juice, and the symptoms go away. If they don't I see my doc.
There is a condition called the Honeymoon Condition. This is when some women get a yeast infection at the drop of a hat, or everytime they have sex. This got it's name from women who would complain of infections right after their honeymoon (lots o sex). Some women are more prone than others.
I hope this helps and good luck!

There will be a itching sensation and of course a yeast discharge. It is common to get one when your pregnant and needs to be treated. The discharge is usually clear in color and sometimes thick! Get medical attention if your pregnant

Well, I've never had one but I know people who have and they say that it gets itchy and red down there and sometimes it hurts to pee. I am not sure on the last part so you may want to research it. You could call a docter and see what they say.
Good Luck

You discharge is yellowish and it smells funny, also you itch like there's no tomorrow, get some monistat, it'll clear it right up. If it doesn't go away try it again and if it persists, see your doctor, it could be something more serious. Don't go more than two weeks with this ok? If monistat doesn't help go to the doctor.
