I like this guy who is a muslim. I don't know too much about the religion, but I heard that muslims are not supposed to date outside out of their religion, I also heard that muslims don't date without the intentions of marriage. I know I could research the religon but I want to know from someone who is a muslim.

I would suggest... in this changing world... it would be better to talk to him... first as friend and then you decide where you want to take your relatiionship.

Yes, in the Holy Qur'an the Christians and Jews are referred to as the People of the Book, meaning the people of the previous revelations. Research the word Mut'a/Muta which is like a Muslim man having a girlfriend which is also in the Holy Qur'an. More info @ www.al-islam.org. Basically Mut'a consists of 2 things, a time period and a gift. It is usually the Shia Muslims that practice this. It can not happen between a Muslim sister and a non-Muslim.

First a Muslim man is not to date. But yes a Muslim man can marry and woman as long as she is a Muslim, Christian or Jew.
You do not have to convert. A person can not be a Muslim except by one's own choice.

I Muslim woman can not marry anyone but a Muslim man.

I know some muslims who date. Depends how religious he is though because in their religion whatever they do to non-muslims is not a 'sin.' They do date without intentions of marriage but only to non-muslims. If they date a muslim it is usually intended to be for marriage.

A Muslim man is allowed to marry a Christian woman. However, dating is not very encouraged in Islam, although many Muslims do it.

I always wondered this too. Many of the Muslim boys in my school date all different kinds of girls form different religions. I guess it doesn't matter to a lot of young muslims as it does to the older muslim generation,

they would only date a christian willing to convert to Islam, especially if they are serious about their faith. But if the person is not a practicing Muslim, he might be more liberal. I am not a muslim but I read a lot about cultures.

It would probably depend on how serious he is about his faith. If he is a devout Muslim then no, he probably would not date you. If doesn't affliate with his religion much or abide by its rules then you might have a shot.
