Depending upon your viewpoint and what you are trying to achieve....however, personally, learning to play and read guitar can transpire into a love of music for other things, such as piano, violin, etc. If this is a young child, encouraging him/her to participate in other activities will be a wonderful thing to invest in for the future.

It depends which you are more devoted to.
Gymnastics will keep you fit, but once you reach 20-25, you won't be able to do most turns, twists, etc. I used to do gymnastics and had to practice up to 4 hours a day. It takes away much of your life, but if you're devoted to it, then all power to you! If you apply to college though, you may get a scholarship and colleges will see how dedicated you are to the sport.

Guitar is an instrument that many people play though, so unless you're spectacular, I don't see it as something that'll make you stand out. However, you will be able to play guitar for most of the rest of your life.

I don't see why you can't do both at the same time.

Guitar. I think gymnastics is a popular answer among young people but choosing to study music and play an instrument is the appropriate answer. Gymnastics will do nothing for someone who grows taller than 5'4", and will mean nothing when they are 50. But learning an instrument will last a lifetime.

Both are good pursuits. Music is something that you can do until you throughout your entire life and can bring enjoyment both to your self and the people you love. Gymnastics is also good for physical conditioning, but largly, with age much of it would have to be simplified. That's not to say the conditioning can't last throughout a life span. But if I had a selection over gymnastics, I would say yoga is something that can.

Tough choice. But I come down on the side of music.

Well you can do gymnastics now and pick up guitar later, even as an adult, but it would be really hard or impossible to do it the other way around.

I hate to be negative but neither. For the VAST MAJORITY of people both subjects will be nothing more than a hobby in future years. Asking about a future with these subjects is implying that one might make a living doing one of these two things. Now sure this may happen, but most people end up in some kind of real job rather than being heavily involved in something like this.

Unless you have an enormous talent for one of these two subjects, don't abandon all else in favor of one of these subjects.
