Well, in Catholicism, divorce is the inability on both parts to work out the marriage and is widely not accepted purely because both refuse to make the marriage work. The annulment however, is a single person within the marriage had not intention from the beginning of the marriage to ever make the marriage work. In Protestant churches, divorce is acceptable if it is because of unfaithfulness. Annulment would then be the shared determination that the marriage will not work because of one's own personal beliefs and not the others.

An annulment means in the eyes of the church and law, the marriage never took place. This can be granted for reasons of fraud, refusal to consummate the marriage, etc. It can usually only be granted for marriages of less than a year. Both couples are free to remarry without it being considered adultery. In a divorce, the marriage ends but is still on the books so to speak and in some religions, any remarriage would be considered adulterous.

In order for one to get an annulment the Tribunal needs to establish whether there was something wrong when the two persons were entering marriage, You need to find out from your Priest just what that is in order to to attempt getting an annulment. With a divorce, incompatibility is enough of a reason, to file for a divorce, or desertion by one of the partners etc. The reason therefore is the difference

The church believes that what has been joined by God is forever . This is why it is of the utmost importance that you make a good decision who to marry in church in my native country. Annulment can only be done within 2-3 months after the wedding...after that it's forever. Divorce can be done anytime....but you can't ever marry in white again or in a church.

Divorce is the legal parting of two married persons. Divorce is not allowed in the catholic church. Annulment is a procedure used by the catholic church to legally part two married persons for a monetary fee. The catholic church will not recognize a divorce. The bottom line is if you want to be catholic you have to pay.

divorce is on when two people have been together for a time and lawyers/judges can make a living off them...annulment is when you have not been together long enough to justify the fees and they let you simply sign a paper saying it never happened.
