Yes! If it works out...you can spend the afternoon getting to know one another...if it doesn't...well, perhaps you have other plans.

Yes, going out to lunch is a good first date. It has a scheduled beginning and end, so if it doesn't go well, you aren't really out much time or expense (hopefully). Plus, meeting someone in the day will lessen the chance that you have to be rude if you don't want to go out anywhere else. I think meeting someone for the first time in a public place without drinking alcohol is good. Plus you get to see them in daylight, which is good if it is a blind date. Have fun!

Yes going out to lunch is a great first date idea... After that if it is a nice day out you should go take a walk in the park...

Lunch is a better first date than dinner because it's not as pressured.
It's less formal and easier to carry a conversation for an hour and a half than all evening.

It very well can be. Actually, there are even dating services, such as "It's Just Lunch" that promote lunch dates as actual dates. Really, it is not the time of day, but what the activity is, who the person is and how well you too mesh.

Coffee or someplace to get a drink I think is better. If you find that you get along and want to continue the date, then you can go to lunch, dinner or somewhere else. I find it pretty uncomfortable to sit down for lunch or dinner and find that we just aren't compatible. Now you have to finish eating and if you aren't compatible, it make eating all that more difficult.

nope... because it can cause some arguing about what food is good, and on top of that, the contacts between the two are no more cool because the food is an obstacle... go to the movies.. or take a walk in a park... but lunch is kinda weird.. .except if it is to drink icecreams
