I coach women and girls football and some of the players are very very good but alas there is not the funding yet so it is still taking a back seat.
some of the other answers you have been given show there are a lot of sexist idiots out there, who have obviously never been to a female football match!

Realistically, I think the best women's football can hope for is that it attains the same level of recognition of women's tennis. Although women's tennis is seen as subordinate to the men's game, but it still draws big crowds. How to achieve this? Try and get sponsors - if some big companies would ge involved the media might take more notice. I think that the national team need to be more prominent in the media too. Apart from the Doncaster Belles (which isn't a helpful name as it makes the team sound like a dainty group of women having a nice time) I really know little about the game, and certainly don't know any of the players. Either away, the work needs to be targeted at girls whilst they're still young.

I think there are good teams out there but i'm not sure about it ever reaching same standards as mens. Football is more of a men's sport so you wont have all these men watching women's football lol! They like to watch the aggressive manly stuff!

I play football, but just because I love the game. There are some fantastic players out there, many of them better than most men - but never will be up to the standards of the top divisions. Same with any physical sport really. It's just good it's gaining interest and acceptance!

There are some fabulous women's football players. However, if history has shown that men's sports are more marketable, men's players recieve higher salaries, and men's sports reach a larger audience.
This is a sad reality, but there's always hope, right?!

There are some great women players out in the World. But the money will not be there for the women's teams.

women's sports will neve be on the same level as men sports. Take women's basketball for example. It's like watching men's basketball in slowmotion without the exciting plays.
