If you want to work in the funeral industry the best way is to go on line to learn what the educational requirements are in Texas. If you wish to become a funeral director, in some states, you must comlete an apprenticeship prior to attending mortuary school. Most larger funeral homes have an on going program..However, the funeral business is coming under pressure by the ever increasing percentage of creamations. Creamation costs a great deal less and offers less opportunity for profit. Less profit usually means fewer jobs, or lower pay.

If you are looking for only a "service" position, research what the lowest position is.
I had two friends in high school who did this part time.
After many weeks of very little to do, they were sent out on their first "service".
To a mine disaster to recover bodies after a week.

call all the funeral homes here, and don't forget to check with small towns outside here, like Stanton, which used to be the Gilbreath funeral home, I don't know what it is called now. Small towns are usually in need of assistance more than big towns, and don't put out want ads for it, it is just by word of mouth.
