Why do people tell me I am insane and stupid when I tell them the earth is 5981-5985 Years Old?

Insane and stupid is harsh. I probably wouldn't go that far unless you insulted my belief that... like somebody else said, there are written records from before 5000 years ago.

There are ruins of cities that are 10,000 years old.

Well, 5981 minus 5985 is -4. So if you're going around telling people the earth won't be created for another four years yet, I can see why they think you're a little cracked.

You don't stop to think that there is ample evidence that the world is a lot older than that. just because the Bible records approximately 5000 years of human history does not mean that the world is 5000 years old! there are countless fossils that are 12,000,000 years old. also, do you drive a car? the fuel that you use daily is made from fossil fuels that originated millions of years ago. Likely because, even by young earth standards, that is WAY too young for the planet to be. That is cutting otu alot of very strong evidence to an older age that at least makes young earthers push it up higher than that. It is just that the planet has to be older than that even taking into account flood dynamics, it is way too young.

I would not call you insane or stupid, I would just presentto you the proof that supports at least a slightly older Earth than that. Ingorance is not stupidity. Many will scoff, their minds are blinded, they think science is the ultimate answer and won't believe upon the Lord for their is no proof suitable for them. Yet the believe the fable of evolution which is based upon not 1 piece of evidence. Remember that 1 day ever tongue will confess that Jesus is God and 1 day every knee will bow. Perhaps you are saying something too simple for them to understand. In simple terms, it might be best to consider the days of the creation, as the Lord said, a day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years a day.

It is probably because scientific evidence suggests that the earth is much older than what you believe. Perhaps these people think your belief on the age of the earth is outdated. Theres is no accounting for why people would tell you that you are insane or stupid. You are entitled to your belief.
