I walk on the treadmill for an hour every day and watch what I eat. Everything on my body looks great except for my stomach and the love handles on my back. What will have the best and fastest impact? I have an ab lounge, will that work if I give it the time of day, I don't feel like it does a whole lot. I don't want to buy anything else unless there is something out there that for sure works and is inexpensive.

To respond to Jacksfullhouse I don't drink anything BUT water. I drink it with all my meals. I don't like anything else now that I have made the change to water. I have been drinking just water for about a year now. I don't eat sweets because I just don't like them that much.

You probably need to increase your cardio more. Increasing your workload on the treadmill will burn more calories and trim the fat from your body. The ab lounge is great if the fat is gone.
Increasing the workload means either adding a hill or more time at a more strenuous rate of speed. You should be able to talk, but not sing.

The fat on your stomach and midsection is a different type of fat and it has less blood flow to that area. What you need to do is high intensity exercise instead of that 1 hour walk on the treadmill. Oh, and if you drink cola or eat a lot of sugar the fat on your stomach will be even harder to come off. Quit eating junk, and do some high intensity work out for a month and you will see results. High intensity is anything that makes you breathe hard and sweat. You can do it in intervals, walk 4 miles an hour for a minute and a half, then run 7 miles an hour for a minute and a half, and do that for 15 - 20 minutes, twice a day. That will burn the fat fast.

The reason why is those are the last places to lose fat. Really, you just need to burn off some fat; there's already muscle under there. Here's how.
Find a steep hill, run up at about 80% speed, for 30 seconds or so. Walk back down. Repeat. Go easy on your knees, you only need to start with a few reps.
Also, here are some good strengtheners:
Lunges.
Side situps - lay on your side, hook your feet under the bed or somehting heavy.
Twisting situps. Get creative.

buy a 7 dollar fitness wheel from sports authority, it hurts at first and its very challenging but you will be shocked at the results you get from it in a week. Use it every day for 10 minutes and keep ur arms locked out and straight and your back flat. The starting position is like a pusup on ur knees and then u just stretch forward slowly and then use ur abs to bring urself in the starting position.

Do crunches several times a day. Free and effective. Lie down with knees bent and arms crossed. Raise your shoulders using your abs only--do at least 8 sets of 4 reps. Also, mix it up by putting your hands behind your head, raising your shoulders and reaching for your left knee with right elbow and vice versa to work your lats. Also, cut back on fats if possible--good luck.

I think that the best thing you could do is invest in an exerball. They are very inexpensive and they work way better than anything because while you are trying to balance and exercise at the same time, you are working muscles that wouldn't be worked without needing to try to keep your balance. Believe me, you get results fast and they are unbelievable!!

I swear by Pilates. You can get DVDs from Wal-Mart for very cheap. It doesn't have to be Windsor Pilates. Any Pilates educated instructor can make a DVD. It really does work and they have DVDs focusing on all areas of the body or specifically stomach, buns, legs, etc. Check it out.

Well if you increase the intensity on the tread mill and cut back slightly on your calorie intake, that will do it. Ab exercises just tone the muscle under neath the layer of fat, it doesn't burn it off. You need to run and watch your calories for that. Hope this helps

For about $20 you can get a stabilization ball. Do sit-ups on top of that. It will work more of your ab muscles than standard sit-ups.

just about each thing calls for a purchase order, even though it will be minimum. i love leap roping. i hit upon it to be large aerobic. also, I do the kickboxing tapes and they have worked o.k. for me (i began off with the strolling video sequence until eventually I felt waiting to address better strenuous workouts). operating in reality calls for a competent pair of trainers so that you do not injure your self. attempt a slow jog in the early hours or overdue evening to maintain away from warmth publicity.
