Hey, I'm a Mormon too! I think people hate us because they don't have a life. They have nothing better to do so they chose to take something or someone that they don't agree with and chose to loath them with a Passion. There are people that hate G.W.Bush with a Passion, others hate Muslims the list goes on! basically all you Mormon haters need to get a life!! Maybe you should take up painting.

Well, I'm not a Mormon hater, cause I am LDS and I LOVE the church, but I bet some of those people who are Mormon haters would actually get something out of Conference if they listened to it. It's not all about religion anyways. A lot of those people were directing their talks to those who aren't LDS as well as members. It's about being humane people and doing service and good to everyone whether they are European, Asian, African, North American, South American, Australian, Rich, Poor, Good, Bad, Haters, or Lovers, Lazy or Hard Working. What an amazing conference this year! It was sooooo good. Haters out there, especially ones who believe we aren't Christian, should listen to Elder Holland's talk. It was absolutely AMAZING! I'll tell you what, I usually don't get emotional over this kind of stuff, but today the spirit has touched me so much. I've never gotten so much out of conference before, and we still have two more sesions! GO MORMONS!!! WOOO!

The Mormon Church is attacked by quoting from Journal of Discourses, Mormon Doctrine, Book of Mormon, Comprehensive History of the Church, or quotes from various other diaries and sources. Then we are challenged to explain that quote or statement. The quote is presented because it gives the required impression even though that may not be a correct interpretation when the context is fully understood. The Christian critics have no accepted body of beliefs or reference works that are considered universally binding or accurate. The only standard that is universally accepted is the Bible, but even then you may have to consult different versions to find acceptance. My experience is that these Christians don't allow others to suggest a correct interpretation of the scriptures. When challenged about something another Christian says, they don't feel obligated to agree with those statements or interpretations.
This is in contrast to the doctines and beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Mormon people have additional scriptures, and authoritative statements from prophets that establish a complete structure of belief and practice. All the members of the church are required to believe that which is true and a significant body of literature has been written to establish the various points of doctrine. Since the church has a standard that we all believe, it provides a large target for critics to attack.
However, probably the main reason critics have so much fun attacking the church is that the Mormon beliefs do not conform to the norms of other Christian ideas. Some concepts such as polygamy seem especially strange when they are first examined. Some Mormon beliefs seem easy to discredit, but on deeper examination it is found that there is more to be considered.
Also the Mormon people are arrogant enough to proclaim that they are the "only true church." When a person leaves the church they cannot easily join another church. They have been taught and believed that other churches were wrong. Without belonging to the "true" church they are sometimes left with no church. They might join the ranks of those who are cynical and skeptical about religions in general. Another possible path might lead to acceptance of membership in another religious faith, and most likely they will retain feelings of betrayal and possibly hatred toward the Mormon church. With those feelings of apostasy they might become very active in "winning" others away from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If they are successful in causing others to doubt their testimony of the Mormon church, they feel justified in their own decision to leave.
Another reason that the Mormons are an "easy" target is that they actually claim to have living prophets and apostles. Our pre-conceived ideas about what a prophet is usually does not include anyone that actually walks and talks like other men. In fact even members of the church cause some problems by not allowing Joseph Smith to be a man as well as a prophet. We have the opportunity to get a close look at what a prophet really is and not what we might imagine a prophet should be.

People hate Mormons, despite the fact that for the most part that Mormons are very nice people, because the faith is so unfathomably evil, and yet the Mormons try to present it as if it were some shining city on a hill that nullifies and makes my faith irrelevant.
You call yourselves Christians, but disparage Christ and Christ's gospel in favor of Joseph Smith and the BOM (if you want to disagree with that fact – I DARE you to end your talk at the next fast and testimony meeting with “And that is how I know that Jesus Christ is my savior and that the bible is true” instead of “And that is how I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and that the BOM is true,” and then try to tell me, a Christian that I am a heretic and misled because of some imagined apostasy.
People hate Mormons because despite being clueless about what real Christianity is about, they go around telling everyone that they are Christians - but insisting that Christians AREN'T Christians.
That sort of thing will piss people off.
I would modify your three groups. 1) Mormons. 2) People who know about the church, but see through it's thinly veiled lies. 3) People who know NOTHING about the church and probably confuse Elders with Jehovah’s Witnesses.

I think people dislike us because of misrepresentation others give about our doctrine, which allot of the time is not true and more of the time taken out of context and also because they don't do the research on both sides, I am LDS and not opposed to looking at the many anti sites people still give me after I tell them I used to be anti and honestly they have not come up with anything new. Same old twisting of our doctrine. Also people Fear what they do not understand Remember Even Cesar thought the Cristian church was a dangerous cult , does that mean it was? of course not, It's much easier for people to spread rumors then learn the truth. To be honest I was guilty of the same thing with Catholics I thought they were worshiping Mary which I was told they don't do they actually just pay respect to her , I still don't quite understand but the point is people shouldn't ask a Lutheran about the Catholic church nor should they ask the Catholic church about the Lutheran church because you are bound to get a very biased opinion .
Also I am LDS and I want to say I know the BIBLE is true and JESUS CHRIST is my savior and died on the cross for my sins and for yours, and I know if it was just you or me he would have done it be first and foremost I know that my redeemer lives, I say these things in the name of my dear savior Jesus the Christ Amen.
And by the way I think anyone that follows Crists teaching is a christian. , although I have to admitt when people are being jerks to me I tend to say gee that was christ like.... I have to say people don't have to beileve the same as I do or follow christ the same as I do , but for those who say all you have to do is beileve in christ and Damn me for trying my best to follow the commandments I have to say it erks me! So pretty much Everyone who follows Christ except the mormons are saved? Gee that makes perfect sense "rolls Eyes" I can't understand why in the world LDS don't except that "shakes head" couldn't imagine .

I don't think there are a lot of Mormon haters just a lot of people who disagree with your beliefs. I have a friend who is a Mormon, and I am a Pentecostal, we definately disagree on our religion but I don't hate him, I love him. I Actually wish that he would have the same beliefs as I do and have prayed for that as well as that all people everywhere would come to Jesus but that is a personal decision each has to make.

The answer is simple. People are angry at the Mormon church for lying to them. They don't even hide the fact that they lie to the members. They say that history should be faith-promoting more than it should be accurate. Once you look at the LDS church from an objective perspective it starts to look awfully far fetched and ridiculous.

Because Satan is trying to stir up the wickedness in people and oppose the true church. He doesn't want anyone to be saved. So, he tempts people to make fun of the church. Hardly any who do actually get it right.
But, the good thing is the more people make a fuss, the more people wonder why. So people look into the church. They realized that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church (except the few who just don't want to be in the church). So that is why.

the same way jews dont recognize the new testament
christians "added"books to their scriptures just as mormons "added"books to the new testament
and most wars are fought because of different beliefs in religion
and part of the reason lds grows so fast is because of the cult religion factor LDS is a religion that actually owns business
no other christian religion owns business yes members of that religion own businesses But the church itself doesnt
and in owning business and making profit is a way they have to promote their religion

Because Mormonism is a brainwashing cult. If you haven't got the chance yet (if you're not old enough), pay attention when you recieve your endowments when you first go to the temple. Don't let them brainwash you to the point that you can't really tell what's actually happening. You'll see what I'm talking about if you keep your wits about you; believe me, I'm ex-Mormon, I've been there and seen it.
