Include your sister's favorite foods and some things that you won't have to prepare like chips and salsa. Use your time wisely on 2 or 3 great dishes that there is plenty of for the large group. Use some of you fav Mexican dishes and ask friends and family to help with those. I have 2 easy and quick recipes that you may enjoy. Mexican fudge is actually an appetizer but good. Sprinkle 1/2 pound of cheddar cheese into a 9 x 11 pan. Mix 3 eggs and 1/4 jar of jalepeno based green salsa and pour over cheese. Put 1/2 pound of cheddar cheese on top and bake at 300 degrees for about 20 min.but don't burn it because burnt cheese is gross smelling! Cool and cut into small squares to serve with crackers or tortilla chips. You may want to double or triple this recipe for such a large group. The next is Spicy Chili Popcorn that you can make ahead and keep in a cannister or large serving bowl with a lid. Mix 1 tsp. chili powder,1/2 tsp.red pepper flakes, 1/2 tsp. cumin,1/4 tsp. garlic powder and pour over 8 cups of popped corn. Toss and mix well. (Add more spices if you want but you may wait until serving time to taste since the flavors will be enhanced with time.)I have tons of recipes if you need anything else. Some are old family favs and some that I made up and some from cookbooks and the internet. Have a great party and give yourself a pat on the back for working so hard for your little sis!!

75 people? Wow...that's pretty big for a birthday party. With that many people make sure you have enough variety to suit everyone's taste. I wouldn't waste to much time on hor d'ouvres. Veggies and dip as well as some sliced cheeses and crackers are always a good and simple way to go about the appetizers. I would stay away from chips and dip though....that's for kid's birthdays. I would concentrate on some main dishes that are also practical to make in large amounts. For example: lasagna, quiches, potato salad, macaroni and cheese and some grilled meats (no hamburgers or hot dogs...more like ribs and chicken). These dishes can be made in large containers and they can feed a lot of people. I am not sure what your nationality is so maybe you could take that into consideration when planning your menu. My best friend's parents are from the phillipines. They always serve huge plates of "lumpia" as appetizers in their parties. You can always go to Costco for some ready made appetizers and they also have tasty and affordable birthday cakes!

If you do not want to feed them the traditional pizza, party wings and chips; then try some pasta it is not hard to make a lot for 75 people, they can choose to have red sauce or Alfredo sauce. Use a linguene or bows for the pasta. you can set out a tray of warm shrimp and warm chicken pieces so they can mix them in if desired with some garlic bread.
The cake and ice cream are the most important, as long as that is great it really doesn't matter what they eat before the candles are blown out.

Well, I'm not Hispanic but my favorite informal party food has always been tostadas. Have the beans and meat (I put them together) in a crock pot or someplace warming and put out plates of shredded cheese, tomato, olives, jalapeno, lettuce, salsa, and have everyone take a crisp tortilla to build their own. It can get a little messy sometimes but it's fun and easy! This plan also works for making nachos if you think the do-it-yourself tostadas would be too much hassle.

ok, this question is sooo easy to answer. Well, most people start off with some salsa chips like tostidoes and some salsa dip. Or some lays original chips with some frenchonion dip. DELICIOUS!=)But it you wanna try to eat healthy set out a fruit or vegetable dish and pour a little bit of vegetable or fruit dip in the center. My mom is having the 4th of July party at our house, so what she usually does is put Strawberries, grapes, canolope, and other fruit on different sections and pour some fruit dipp in the center! I LOVE it ! Litterally i'll be snacking on it for hours! Try it , hope it helps!

There are several ways to go. If you want it quick and simple, go with Chips & Dip. Maybe have a tray of veggies and dip (for the health conscious and vegans). If you want to get fancier, you can have shrimp and cocktail sauce, spinach dip, crab cakes, etc. Some people think hotdog weenies are a little "ghetto" ... but I think they fit at ANY party. They are my favorite. I'd avoid pizza, as it's bulky and you have to provide plates and napkins. Also, avoid messy finger foods like buffalo wings ... they make a mess, and people will complain (even if they are delicious). Also, provide plenty of boozes so they dont care about the food. :)

Hope you all enjoyed the party.

I would have ...... served lots of great music (that they like)
Nacho platters with all the fixings. Along with- fresh fruit salad served in watermelon baskets to quench their thirst. and then -
A good ole barbecue - burgers, franks, chips, pickles
- fruit punch or fruit juices ( instead of sodas ).

Birthday cake - or Ice Cream Cones with bowls of chopped nuts, chocolate chips, spinkles, granola - for dipping.
give each guest a party favor as they leave - preferably home made since you had so many (75).
Happy Belated Birthday

Keep it simple!!! Different cheeses and crackers, fruits cut into smaller pieces, veggies cut up with dips, chips. You could very easily make 7-layer dip. You could also do the frozen mini-tacos, taquitos or mini-pizzas. Luckly teenagers(especially girls at this age) are more interested in gossip, rather than food. Some are even starting to watch thier figure. Don't stress too much over it, i'm sure your sister will appreciate anything you do for her.

What time of day is the party? If it is afternoon, I would definately offer finger foods. Typical teenager junk food. If it is an evening party, I would think about pizza, chicken wings, or a bbq that is easy like hot dogs and smores...mm An added bonus to make it super special would be some ethnic food, like something from where your family originated.
