I'm a former Military wife and daughter. My brother is in the army, my brother in laws are both in the Marine corps, my husband was a marine and my father just got out in March. Choosing the road of a military man, is a long rough and proud road. Many, who do not serve (as myself) will not understand the brotherhood and pride that each marine feels. But don't get me wrong, there are jerks in the Marine Corps too. Usually they are the young and foolhearted ones, with great intentions but poor follow through. Being a military wife, is a lonely job that takes a lot of great friends and patience. But it's not a job I would've traded for anything. Tell your friend I said thanks and OOHRAH DEVIL DOG!

Hmm...well I've been in for just over 4 years now and it's been one hell of a tour so far!!! One thing that is for sure that there is a brotherhood in the US Marine Corps. If you walk from your car to work, right there just outside the parking lot someone may pull over and ask to see if you need a ride. How many people do you think would pick up a total stranger off the road anywhere else? Not talking to you small town folk, lol. But definetely Marines take care of their own, but like a lot of other people here I don't get to see my girlfriend a lot. It's a lifestlye that we are getting used to, but it makes our time spent together that much more valuable. Also, I've grown up a lot i the last 4 years. This is the first time I've had to budget not because it's my first steady job but it's my first job I can't make overtime!! Also, credit is easy to get in the military because your small paychecks are guaranteed, so I've become very financially savvy in every sense of the word. I've learned a lot of lessons, overcome a lot of stress and hard times (alcoholism-got me busted down in rank) but I grew up quickly and am very succsessful today. I've managed to complete 2 years of college in the last 4 years which isn't bad. I've saved some money for retirment, learned about investing, met a great woman, completed a legacy of men in my family serving in the US military, and grew up quite a lot. The Marine Corps has taught me to become a great leader, but first becoming a great follower. I have to say it's been a great 4 years so far, here's to another one! Oh yeah did I mention that I put up with a lot of bullshit along the way? Totally worth it though, to claim the title of United States Marine. I mean to be able to wear the dress blues.

I've been in the marines not too long like say 10 months before I transfered to the navy as a navy seal. Marines are like all the other branches, physical work and mental challenge. When it comes to war, the true thing is that some people are peeing in there pants when its their for time to be deployed. Marines are one of the highest recongized branch to do land welfare. One of the best I should say. its a long story about it, you can contact me if you want to.click on my profile and there is my email address.

my fiance is in the marines. he's been in for about 2 years now and i can't be with him because i go to grad school in Chicago. it's tough, but at the same time i really admire him (and all other service members) he does something i know i couldn't do and i respect him for that. i can see him only when he's on leave which isn't for very long or when i can take time off to fly out to see him (which isn't often). it's something i wouldn't change though, I've met lots of great people and i know he's doing something really great.

I was Navy but I married a Marine and I couldn't be prouder. I honestly believe, they're the best. Yea, I mean every branch has their specialty but a Marine is a one of kind. Semper Fi!

I did it at the late age of 26 and it was terrific. Very difficult, but the best thing I did in my life.
