I have researched my family tree and know that they came from several villages in Somerset but having visited cannot find a single tomb with their names on.

Because they probably would have already migrated over to the states at that late date. You will find them in the United States. Also, not everyone could afford a headstone, not a tomb for sure ....

Maybe they were buried on a family farm and in a private cemetery. Go to the town where the villages are and do a land search.
