RE:
How many 8oz cups of water make 1/2 gallon of water?

Just a thought, I hope the answers given here that are incorrect are not a reflection on our educational system. It does seem rather amazing that so many people have no idea how many oz are in a half gallon. As above the answer is 8, 64 oz = 1/2 gallon and 64 divided by 8 is 8.

1/4 gallon or 1 liter is not enough water unless you are getting water in your diet from other sources such as soups, veggies, fruit, fruit juice, vegetable juice, milk and herbal teas. They say you should drink 8 glasses of water (8, 8oz or 1 cup glasses). Also, if you drink coffee you should drink two glasses of water for each cup of coffee. One gallon of water is not as much as you think. The human body can process nearly four gallons in one day. You lose water by urinating, defecating, sweating and breathing. If you live in a hot or frigid, cold climate, you need to drink more water and of course, if you're exercising you need more water. Personally, I drink at least two liters (1/2 gallon) of water each day regardless of my activity level. If it's hot or I'm not feeling well or if I'm exercising, then I drink more. If you drink extra water, you just pee out what your body doesn't need. There are dangers of drinking too much water, it's called water intoxication and it can lead to death. However, this only happens if you drink very large amounts of it in a really short amount of time. For most people, they should drink enough water so that they never feel thirsty. If you ever feel thirsty, you probably aren't drinking enough. Also, if you keep reaching for food even though you've eaten, there's a good chance you just need a drink.

There are 2 cups in a pint, 2 pints in a quart, and 2 quarts in a half gallon, so that makes 2 x 2 x 2 = 8 cups in a half gallon

just remember "a pint's a pound the world around"

2 cups = 1 pint
2 pints = 1 qt
4 qts = 1 gallon....so 2 qts = 1/2 gallon = 4 pints = 8 cups
