I put the cd in, follow the prompts, and when it gets to the point of selecting the option to delete the patition, it says to press D. I press D and it says I cant delete the partition because it has important update info on it. Doesn't the CD have all the info needed? I REALLY need to format C drive... please help!

Before you wanted to delete the partition was it running windows update? If so did you restart and let it completely install? Is it a dell or hp computer which has the backup partition? If so this may be preventing you from formatting the drive....

in case your domicile windows Xp cd is bootable disk merely bypass to CMOS set up. After booting your workstation, press delete. Then set your CD rom as your first boot gadget. then restart your workstation and and press any key as well on your CD rom. then the set up will run immediately. merely keep on with the academic to format your stress c:. then setting up of unpolluted domicile windows will keep on with next.

First, you need to get out of windows. then go to the command prompt when your computer start up (dont put your windows xp disc in). if you want to format C drive, type the command "format c:". then your computer will try to format it.

Some computers require a special installation disk from the manufacturer. Maybe that's the problem.

if it is a dell or hp the D is protected it has the compressed files to create the C to factory presets including winxp. if it is a hp they have start / all programs / pc help & tools system restore choose deconstructive format thats what i did.

don't start the instalation from windows xp.shut down the computer , enter bios , select boot from cd and exit bios saving changes.then i think it will work!
