Might be an idea to describe your lifestyle and home environment and ask what type of dog would suit and people with experience of dog owning could answer :-)

You should first check with your local Kennel Club website (I don't know if you are in Britain or the USA.)

Also speak to a Vet. contact a canine behaviourist (Dog psychologist) who will find out your circumstances (Lifestyle+ what you want in a dog, what a dog will want from you) and be able to give you one to one information based on your information enabling you to find out which breed is best for you.

HI i always think the best place to start is. choose the sort of dog you like best. then a couple of more breeds.then get books on the breed you like to see if it fits into your life style.if you have put what sort of thing you like doing. like myself other breeders would have given you advice on the sort of breed to suit you.but its nice to know you are thinking about what would fit in with your family before you get your puppy.as once you have him/her its to late to have made the wrong chose. happy dog days when you find your new family member. best wishes sammylee,
