Well, it depends on your idea of accurate. Have people found events to tie his predictions to? Yes, they have. But if I write down a bunch of vague generalities, in a few hundred years, I'm sure most of them will have come "true" as well.

The real Nostradamus quatrains covered the War of Religions in France. He had predicted that the Royal Family would be split by the internal political struggles. He predicted most of the hard times that people would have to go through during war. He predicted (maybe) that the was would end with a treaty. Given that he was the astrologer of the Regent (mother of the young king) at the time, he had inside information. None of the predictions he made apply beyond the year 1600 (although some historians grant him the Peace of Alais - 1616 - although most think that the prediction that War ends with a peace treaty is not really difficult). All the quatrains that "predict" modern events are either very "creative" interpretations of real quatraisn (people making up fake translations of the original, vague quatrains) or they are outright fraud. The predictions used in the Big 2012 Hoax did not exist before they were created during the summer of 2003. Otherwise, they would have contradicted the charlatans previous hoax: end-or-the-world caused by Planet-X in May 2003.

His writing is so vague that it is very much open to guesswork and interpretation. People have often looked at history and said that this or that event is something that he predicted. Maybe so, maybe not.
If you are looking for prophecies that have actually come true, and some that are being fulfilled even now, you should look at the Bible. There are hundreds and hundreds. Jesus fulfilled over 400 prophecies that all were made regarding His birth, life, and crucifixion, from about 700 to about 4000 years before His birth. For example: Many details of His crucifixion are described in the Old Testament centuries before "crucifixion" was even invented as a means of execution. It was described in detail before there was a Roman Empire to invent it.
Not to mention all the other prophecies given and fulfilled by the Old Testament prophets.
There is no other "holy book" that can accurately make such a claim.

Yes, and no. Yes in the sense that if you were to review over all that he has predicted, some have become true. For example, he predicted the death of one of the great kings during his time exactly right.
At the same time, it is a no. Read over his predictions now, and they will make no sense. Read over his predictions after some terrible thing happens, and it will make perfect sense for you will begin to fit in the pieces.
So the answer is how you percieve it to be.

No way! Nostra-Dumbass was wrong about most stuff.
But, he did predict the rise of Hitler (he called him Hister, or something).
Like many "seers", his predictions were vague.
He said the world was going to end in the year 2000- I presume he meant the year 2K according to the western calendar.
He might have had a few things right, but it's hard to say definitively.

A large number of his written works have come to pass in one form or another... but a lot of them very vague of course.
He did name names at times.. and come very close (as was the case with Hitler and Napoleon).
He also talked about disasters that would happen.. or wars that would happen.. and that was pretty accurate as well.
But a lot of his writings were and are very hard to decipher so it's difficult to say how much more is right or wrong.
Of course most religious fanatics will disagree... but a lot just comes down to interpretation of his writings.

No, definately not. Sure some of his predictions sound accurate but they are vague generalisations and people look too far into them. It's like a psychic giving a 'cold reading'.
Anyway, if he was accurate then we would all be dead by now.

Some. Then again if I spent a number of years suggesting that such and such would happen then I'm almost guaranteed to get some right. Also bear in mind that the calendar changed and a lot of the dates he predicted things happening came and went without a problem.

A couple, and he was wrong on quite a few too. For example, an evil man with a blue turban was suppose to arrive by air in 1997, and cause massive destruction. And no, never seen a picture of bin Laden with a blue turban, but even if it was him, it was a few years late and the destruction would have been much, much worse.

Not even close.
The Bible is more reliable. Israel's resurrection is one of many prophecies fulfilled. One in particular - the Antichrist (if I read the scriptures correctly) rises from Islam.., and will either make his inaugural debut at the Dome of the Rock mosque (which sits on a wing of the former jewish Temple) or do something of global importance there. A Muslim leader who the Roman Catholic Pope will ally with.
