You only speak for yourself. Just because your husband pays taxes and is a good person doesn't make it OK. We all pay taxes and there are a lot of good people out there. I have a friend who is from Africa and he is becoming a citizen the LEGAL way, he is taking the tests, paying the fees, taking time off work to tend to the appointment, he is a GOOD person for becoming a citizen the RIGHT way. He didn't even speak English when he got here, he learned by watching TV with the caption on and now he is working his way up to store manager for Wal-Mart. Sure it's taken him a few years to accomplish but he is doing it, unlike your husband and all the other illegals. I think your husband is lazy, this is the land of opportunity and you have to work for the opportunity like all of us LEGAL or NATIVE folks do, nothing is ever free. Big deal that your husband traveled for three days across a desert, trying having your whole family murdered and then being a prisoner and forced to leave your country, yet through all that, still become a LEGAL US CITIZEN. Your not in control of which side of the fence you are born, I think there is no such thing as being born on right or wrong side of any fence. Do call us ignorant just because we want all foreigners to become LEGAL citizens, it's a rule established long ago and your husband and everyone else who appreciate this land of opportunity should abide by it.

Please tell me how your husband pays taxes. If he is Illegal, then he can't possibly have a legal SSAN to pay taxes under. If you are talking about sales tax, that is local and state, and don't require you to file. But federal taxes do. Those are the taxes that pay for medicare, medicad, and all the things like the wars, government employees etc. If he is illegal and paying those taxes, how does he do it. I really want to know, because I would love to get a new ssan. I could start a whole new life right here in the states.
Nobody is saying that the Illegals were born on the wrong side of the fence. They were born on the right side, but it became the wrong side when they decided to jump that fence and break our laws. And then crying about it takes a long time to get legal citizenship and cost a lot of money, well, that's most unfortunate. But anything worth having is worth waiting for.
I have waiting for a long time to gather up enough money to buy a house, so I guess I'll just go to the bank and take what I need. Thats O.K. with everyone isn't it?
I think you and your husband might want to consider taking all of your valuable possesions and move to Mexico. You could live like royalty!!!!

I know 2 and both are good people who work hard and do not pay taxes under their own SSN. One of the 2 has a sister who is also a very good person and is my daughters god mother and a citizen of the US, as for her brother he is still a criminal and should be treated accordingly. I worked for years all overr the world and can tell you that the illegals would not get treated with the concern that they get here anywhere else in the world. Our government is way to soft on these people. If I am trying to better my life and I break into your house and take you brand new truck will that make it OK I mean after all I was only trying to better my life. I am married to a Colombian who is a first generation US citizen, she worked hard, waited her time, put in her fees to become a citizen. People like your husband make the wait longer for people like my wife. If the resources were spent toward processing people who were coming here legally and not toward paying for enforcement of laws pertaining to the ones who bypass the legal system it might take less time to become a citizen. if you think that the illegals do not hurt the US look at the amount of taxes collected in CA compared to other states and then see where their schools & roads rank on the national list. Look at NM and AZ hospitals ability to provide services and at the rate they are going bankrupt. WAKE UP.

My brother in law came illegally and I'm glad he did because he is an awesome person. Now he is a US citizen, and is more of a patriot than a lot of liberals and conservatives.
The fact is that it is nearly impossible to come here legally, so until they make it possible for everyone who is not a criminal or terrorist to come legally, people should stop making this into a such a terrible crime.
So what if they broke the law? The US border is not Holy... it's just another country on this stupid earth. Those of you who make a big deal about it, please don't tell me you never broke the law. People break the f#($*ng speeding laws every day. People kill innocent babies in abortion every day, but that doesn't bother you.
I hate it when people must make others look like criminals so they can feel better about themselves.
At the same time I believe illegals should not have the same rights that citizens have until they get permanent residency. And they should definitelly not qualify for welfare. The only help they should get should be dire emmergency and help from private institutions (like churches). They shouldn't be allowed to be a burden on the rest of the population.
Don't you find it intersting that the terrorists are finding it easier to come into this country legally than the honest hard working people that just want a better future for themselves and their kids? Stop being so self righteous people!!!

The reason it takes so long to come legally is because it is such a good deal for poor immigrants once they get here. The reason it is such a good deal is because the middle class and wealthier citizens subsidize education and health services for those who are poorer. That is why all developed countries that subsidize services have limits on how many poor immigrants can come. People who come above that number are stealing services which are now so degraded in our border states that they cannot adequately take care of our own citizens.
It costs $18,000 to educate a child for one year in California, more if it is bilingual education. Meanwhile, the schools are overcrowded and underfunded and people are trading their retirements to get their children out of public school where ever they can manage it. That is not right.
Some few illegal immigrants may actually pay enough taxes to be one of the subsidizers, rather than one taking subsidies. However, that is most definitely not the usual case.
That is why I am against illegal immigrants. My children deserve a good education (which I pay for) in their own country. They can't get that with the rate of illegal immigration that is occurring.
Yes, we are fortunate to be born where we are. However, that doesn't mean we should be so irresponsible as to try to take care of the poor from the rest of the world before we adequately take care of our own people.

I know about 10 people who are illegal aliens.
I have opinions about them all, all different, as all people are different.
Illegal aliens deserve to be treated fairly, but they broke the law to enter this country.
No, we are not all "god's" children. Many people do not believe in god.
Why does someone speaking out about criminals make them ignorant?
Your "question" does little or nothing that would make anyone sympathize with the plight of illegal aliens.
In fact, you will only anger Americans. You seem to be bragging about what you have basically stolen from hard working Americans. It sounds as though you have a good job or jobs. The fact is, your husbands good job should be taken by an American and he should be deported.
Your husband is no more brave than any other person. He knew he was committing a crime by coming here, and that crime needs to be punished. You are exactly right about taking advantage of America, and Americans are getting sick of it. There are billions of poor people in the world. Why should illegal aliens from Mexico have a greater advantage over other immigrants that want to come here? They shouldn't. Wait in line.
On your next vacation in Mexico, your illegal alien should stay there, and you need to make a decision to stay with him.

No, I don't hate your husband nor would I kick him in the street. The issue isn't individual, it's in the numbers that Mexico is forcing it's sovereignty above ours.
Yes, every country on earth punishes people being born on the wrong side of the fence, in Greece, Russia and Turkey comes to mind, you would be shot on site, and including Mexico.
I am sorry he spent three days in the desert. That is not a requirement on the Citizen's test nor does he get citizenship as a prize for it - congradulations, admiration, yes - citizenship, no. If I did that going to mexico, would i be a citizen?
If you don't respect our laws, then don't come here. How does it feel to be married to a lawbreaker? That only you could answer.
Check your bible. Jesus said give to cesar...no, it has nothing to do with being gods children. And another thing - paying taxes in this country with the exception of an IRS case doesn't make anyone above the law.
If i deduct what it my portion costs me, an average of $55,000 a year per illegal immigrant, the IRS is ready to throw me in jail. If I go to Mexico and cross illegally I go to jail, there's no debate!
PLEASE STOP ASKING US TO SUSPEND OUR CONSTITUTION AND SOVEREIGN RIGHTS TO ACCOMODATE YOU.
That will NEVER be win win.
Thank You.
And I don't have to remind you - Freedom in America isn't FREE.
Pablo: There you go, giving illegals a better constitution than us. We break the law, we get caught, we are prosecuted. Illegals break the law and are let go. They don't need insurance, licenses, registration, they don't even have to prove citizenship to illegally vote.
That is a living under a separate constitution than us. AND THAT IS WRONG.

Just being a good person does not grant you license to break the law. I just noticed that didn't answer your question. The answer is yes I have known people who were in the country illegally. Illegal or legal has no bearing on my opinion of people in general, if I like you I like you, but the debate is not whether illegals are good people. The debate is about whether it is right to enter the country illegally and what should occur when you do. I do not really expect you to respect my opinion, your statements tell me you don't respect the law. The fact that you have a house and brand new vehicle but are unwilling to incur time or expense to do things the correct way tells me everything I need to know. I hope this answer isn't to ignorant for Roddy.

"I wouldn't have said that here, you are going to get alot of ignorant responses. However I think that as long as you are looking for a better life then you are welcome in America. The fact that people can't understand is that everyone came from immigrants. "
What is ignorant about being against people who are breaking the law? And, in this case, flaunting it? What you do not understand is my grandparents came to this country LEGALLY, and that people are not against LEGAL immigrants, they are against the ILLEGAL ones. She complains is "costs a great deal of $" to make him legal. Well, why did they buy a 2006 truck if they can't afford the process of making him legal? Obviously her husband has no interest in doing things legally.

Sigh ... your husband might be a wonderful person, but that doesn't alter the fact that he is here illegally. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have applied legally, and who are now waiting patiently in line, would love to drive that brand new GMC 2006, but they have to wait! And, as you say, it costs $ to be legalised ... sounds to me as if you can afford it ... and before you jump on the bandwagon, I'm not a racist ... but why some people should take unfair advantage of our non existent border policy, and then expect to be congratulated on being law breakers, is beyond me!
