Give Adam and Eve a little more credit here. They were not children, nor were they naive. The scripture says that the Lord would come and walk with them in the cool of the evening. Remeber that The Lord had placed them in dominion over all the earth...he would not have given that responsibility to people who were not wise enough to care properly for it.
The issue here is obedience and trust. I think your question should be more to the nature of telling an adult not to shoot themselves with said gun, because if they do they will surely die...or be hurt. Adam and Eve understood the nature of obedience they were not children.
That loving God gave them "Free will" to make their own choice to obey or not to obey. They knew the consequeces of their actions.

Great comparison! And I agree 100%. The only thing that I try to keep in my mind is that just about every example in the good book has a contridiction in it as well. Because in order to have something people can follow, it has to cover its bases. IE: God is a loving and caring god, but go against him and he will send you someplace where you will be punished and tortured for all eternity. Turn the other cheek, or eye for an eye? Those are there cause the reader/follower can use whichever part they want to justify their actions.

1st off, the fall of mankind has not occurred. If you think so, then you are misguided, which answers the next part of your question. As a parent, you are responsible for your children and you (not God) have mad two very bad mistakes. (A) You have not raised your children properly to obey instructions; (b) You do not understand the inherent curiousity of a child. I'll throw out a (C) too, you don't know or care how to safe gaurd the children.

Interesting question, but the more appropriate analogy here would be if you left a loaded gun within reach of a grown adult, who was asked not to touch the gun but did touch it anyway.
Adam and Eve were not kids. They were adults, and they fully possessed the ability of being responsible for their own actions.

"The fall of Adam" was a necessary step in God's eternal plan of happiness for man. Through it, man became mortal with the ability to make decisions for himself, chosing good or evil, eternal life or eternal misery. God provided an environment in which Adam was able to make a decision and suffer the consequences, which happened to be all apart of His plan. Because of Adam and Eve's actions and decision, they were given the opportunity to have children (you and me) as well as the opportunity to gain knowledge and make decisions.
For this purpose God sent His Son Jesus Christ to perfom the Atonement, through which we can be forgiven of OUR OWN sins and gain eternal life. We are not held responsible for Adam's transgression.

Remember God is eternal. So therefore he knew Eve was going to eat the apple LONG before Eve did. So not only is God responsible, but it was premeditated. I believe it is all part of God's greater plan. Whatever that is.

Buy a safety lock for the gun (they only cost a few bucks) Unload the gun because if the kids get hurt, you'll have a lawsuit that cost a lot more than a safety lock.

Guns were not around when this story was made up. But yes, if it were true then God would be at fault in a court of law.

Yes, guns should be kept out of kids reach. If you purposely or accidentally leave guns within a kid's reach, shame on you.

Yes it would be your fault. You would need to hide it somewhere where they will never find it. Adam and Eve were not kids either they were adults.
