Singapore Sling recipe

1/2 oz grenadine syrup
1 oz gin
sweet and sour mix
club soda
1/2 oz cherry brandy

Pour grenadine into the bottom of a collins glass, and fill with ice. Add gin, and almost-fill with equal parts of sweet and sour and chilled soda. Top with cherry brandy, and serve unstirred, garnished with a cherry.

Doesn't answer your question, but. My favorite Singapore Sling story was that two of my friends and I started, one night, drinking Slings when one of us got the idea that we better get something to eat so that we don't get too drunk. We ordered a bssket of garlic bread and got to drinking in earnest.

We finished the bread and I got the brilliat idea of us seeing how many of the Sling's cherry stems would it take to fill the empty basket. I clearly remember the first four drinks. Things got fuzzy after that. It some point, I recall that I was under the table. I got up and saw that our party was short one person. Kenny and I ordered a couple more slings and even though we could no longer see the bottom of the basket, we still had a long way to go.

Did we fill the basket? I dunno, but we lost count of the cherry stems a long time before they kicked us out of the bar.

I would have thought that Teh Tarik would be the most famous drink in Singapore.
It's almost homegrown.
