The three young men who were caught on CCTV stabbing defenceless victims about three weeks ago, they were obviously there, they definitely did it, what is wrong with hanging them. I understand that in cases where it is not 100% that someone did commit the crime they should not be hung but when there is concrete evidence what harm can it do. They stabbed a young student to death because they knew they could get away with it....surely we need harsher penalties for such evil individuals?

As long as it's 100% sure with dna, cctv's and everything together yep I agree and that would solve some of the prison overcrowding too. There always will be criminals who'll commit the crime knowing there's a death penalty and I say good riddance to bad rubbish. Others might think first. Whatever the do-gooders say about education, poverty blah blah blah doesnt work and it doesnt work with a big NO. Same with the paedophiles, they'll keep on raping and killing children, this country's become a joke dealing with the like. No the death penalty wont deter all criminals but at least it'll make room in the next cell for the next one. Depressing but what else.

It has been proved in countries or states such as texas that capital punishment acts as no deterrent.Do you not think that spending the rest of your life in prison would be worse to these people?and what do you mean "they knew they could get away with it" i assume they were given life.i have spent a lot of time with lifers. There are many factors to take into consideration. I would never condone such evil acts but what leads men to act in this way?what was there upbringing?what evil has been done to them?what do you say to that?your answer would probably be that -no matter what has happened to them in life...there is no need to commit such evil attrocities. So if you had your way wouldn't you be doing exactly the same by killing them? There will always be evil and you will never stop it.Would killing these people make you feel better?if so you must ask yourself why.Trying to make a just and fair world in your world would only conflict with the reality of this sometimes brutal world.

I think if there is absolutely no doubt of guilt in the case of murderers then the death penalty is the way to go.
However, I do not think it should be handled the way USA does it. They have a very cruel system in that they allow their death row inmates to wait for years before doing the deed.
I think that the sentence should be done by lethal injection within 1 week of sentencing. This would allow the criminal time for goodbyes to relatives & time to try to make their peace with either God or their own consciences.
Not only is justice seen to be done but it is a cheaper option than having to feed, clothe & house these people for years on end.
I also believe that in cases of rape, GBH, child abuse etc. a life sentence should mean life with no time off for good behaviour.

i agree... and prison should be prison; not a holiday camp, with sky TV, pool rooms... gyms... etc....

bread water, corporal punishment...

people would, this day and age, realise, getting in trouble in the first place, is not good for them...

you would defo see less repeat offences.

I've seen some baddies in my time chasing Lex Luther around... i think the law is too soft...

all these human rights issues, they seem to forget the human rights of the individuals the crime are perpetrated against...

criminal are to well protected...

I mean one such crim had a chance to go out on a shoping day and buy a winning lottery ticket... criminals have been allowed to get married inside...

they have gone on parole to repeat offend... Like the guy who recently kidnapped a three year old, (he was on parole for child abuse!), he took her on a drive across england, to be abused by a paedophile syndicate... during this time, who knows what that child was subject to on her journey... he was even chased by police, and crashed the car with the child in it... thus endangering her life moreso...

this guy should not only be hung... but given beatings until he is knocked cold... by the childs family or a representative of the family (no shortage of vollunteers!) then he should be beaten again, and again, for a few years... then drawn and quartered... the rat!!!

Human Rights would say... oh can't let them get bored, they'd fight, and make prison wardens jobs tougher...

well get tougher prison wardens (for the murderers, rapists, child abusers) and keep the crims locked up... so what if they get bored and eat each other or something (we wouldn't have to feed then then!)... they have commited crimes that are a gross act against human rights; them rights should be taken away from such individuals, no question!... if I had absolution, I would do this for definate the scum bags!!

then again... if there was no criminals, then I'd be out of a job... so I'd have to hang up my cape! oh bliss!!!

This is just one where the evidence is 100%, but, would you ahve the death penalty for such cases, and who would decide when a case was 100%, If I was on a jury, and the death penalty was in force I would not, under any circumstances vote for a guilty verdict. If that meant a hung jury, so be it.

I AGREE-WHEN ITS TOTALLY CLEAR THAT THIS IS WHAT HAS HAPPENED AND THERE ISNT EVEN A SHRED OF DOUBT-FOR INSTANCE A LARGE NUMBER OF CREDIBLE WITNESSES OR OTHER SUCH THINGS TO PROVE IT BEYOND ANY DOUBT-DNA ETC THEN I DO THINK THAT THERE OUGHT TO BE SOME KIND OF QUICK METHOD OF KILLING SOMEONE TO LET OTHERES KNOW THAT THIS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IN OUR SOCIETY.I PERSONALLY THINK THAT CHILD KILLERS SHOULD ALWAYS DIE FOR THEIR CRIMES-IF IT IS ESTABLISHED THAT IT WAS 100% THEM THAT DID IT-ITS A DIFFICULT ROAD TO GO DOWN BECAUSE IF THERE WAS A SINGLE MISTAKE MADE THEN THAT WOULD GIVE ALL THE NAMBY PAMBY LIBERALS ALL THE AMMO THEY NEEDED TO SAY THE SYSTEM WASNT WORKING.
I AGREE WITH YOU QUITE STRONGLY ON WHAT YOU SAY AND I DONT THINK YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT TOO LONG TO GET THIS THING INTO PRACTICE BECAUSE THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING THE WORLD IS GETTING WORSE AND SOONER OR LATER SOMEONES GOING TO STAND FOR GOVERNMENT WITH THIS AS A POLICY AND I THINK THE COUNTRY WILL PRETTY MUCH BE BEHIND IT-IF THE STIPULATIONS YOU AND I HAVE MENTIONED ARE PART OF A PROPOSED RETURN TO THE DEATH PENALTY

I agree, where there is total and ireffutable evidence then these individuals should be killed.

I also think that teachers / head teachers should be allowed to smack children. The current trend for violent crime can be traced back to when corporal punishment was removed from the school system. Just knowing that you'd get the cane stopped most people in my day from doing anything too bad.

The punishment should fit the crime, life should mean life.

I totally agree with capital punishment in theory, and in that specific case I would use it. However I don't believe government would reinstate it for certain and selective cases, it would have to be all murders or no murders for example. If that was the case, sometimes people would be killed when they were innocent. Also although we are paying for the criminals to be in prison with our taxes, to live a lifetime like that living with what you have done and suffering behind bars is worse that to die and have it all over in a second in my opinion..

I beleive you one is going to stand up and commit such crimes that yes they do need to bring back the death sentence. There is no excuse for killing someone so you deserve the same punishment.
