With long alcohol abuse they will have broken blood vessels looking like tiny red veins in their face, sometimes a bulbous nose. a true alcoholic detests sweets of any kind. Some have a swollen midsection even though they rarely eat.

That is an open question. It all depends on the person. Some one may have Crone's disease, making their stomach stick out like an alcoholic's.
I'd go with the red, bulbous nose, like W.C. Field's. Sometimes they have glassy, blood shot eyes. But there are no symptoms that fit all.

JUST SMELL THEIR BREATH WHEN THEY TALK TO YOU, AND IF IT SMELLS LIKE ALCHOHOL, THEN THEY MOST LIKELY ARE, PHYSICALLY, MOST OF THE TIME THEY ACT DISORIENTED, AND NOT ALL THERE IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
