Fat is an energy store. When you use more energy than you are acquiring in the form of food, your body uses up some of that store of fat to supplement the energy from your diet, by breaking it down chemically. I couldn't tell you *exactly* how, but that is the essence of it.

thats a good question.

What does 'burning calories' really mean. I mean if you are running and burning calories because thats what is used when you use energy.

I still wouldn't know exactly what happens to this energy for it to no longer be there.
Spontaneous combustion maybe.

Your body burns the stored fat as energy.
Aerobic excercise is the best way to burn it.( walking swimming,)
