Each puppy is different. Just like children they grow at their rate and metabolism. I have 2. Max is 6 years old and weighs 14 pounds and Gomez is 10 months old and weighed 6 ponds at 14 weeks and now weighs 11 pounds at 10 months.I know of alot of people who have these dogs. No 2 are alike. the range is usually between 9 and 16 pounds. It also depends on how much you feed them and exercise them. There is a type of shihtzu that is a little smaller some people call imperials they usually do not weigh more then 10 pounds full grown. It sounds to me like you have an average size ShihTzu.

A full grown shih-tzu will usually weigh 8-12lbs. However, there is really no telling how much your shih tzu will weigh because there could be a growth spurt on its 6th month. It would also depend on the genetics of the dam and the sire whether they are big boned or both are tiny. Chances are, your pup will follow their constitution unless it was the runt in the litter.

I had a 35 pound shih-tzu that lived to be 16 yrs old and was as tall as my knee. His paws were enormous, he was our Dinosaur throw-back shih-tzu. And before anyone thinks "hmmm, mixed breed", I also owned both parents who were of normal size and weight--12 pounds and 16 pounds, champion bloodlines and all that.
