It doesn't make a checkpoint daily, only when something important changes like a program is installed or uninstalled.Don't worry! You don't need a checkpoint for every day.And if you do you can make them manually.Good luck!

Force it. Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, then System restore and force the system restore. You can manually create one.
Normally it would manually create one when it shows a difference from two checkpoints. When theres a difference, it will create a checkpoint. It might be a virus or a spyware thats corrupting something in system restore thats messing it up.
If thats the case, you dont want it to make a checkpoint. I think its safer to just manually create one whenever you install a new program.

Right-click on My Computer and select properties. There is a system restore tab. Check there to see if system restore is on. Also, is your hard drive more than 1/2 full? I heard that system restore needs to have at least 1/2 of the HD empty to function properly. I'm not sure if this is true, but it is possible.

Right-click on My Computer, click Properties, under the System Restore tab, check the box that says "Turn off System Restore" Then re-boot the computer and go back and turn it back on. This happens when the System Restore cache is full. When you turn it off, re-boot and turn it back on, it clears out the cache, so make sure your system is in shape before you do.

Hi there. We just bought a new pc and our system restore for XP doesn't work. We couldn't get it to work on our last pc either. I don't really think it works. It worked once about two weeks after we bought it but since we wiped out our pc and re-installed everything it won't work.

a lot of viruses reside in the system restore files. disable system restore then reboot your puter in safe mode with networking. update your anti-vrus and run a scan. also go to http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_frame.asp. and run this online scan. once you make sure you have no infection reboot your machine and turn system restore back on and set a restore point.

DONT USE WINDOWS XP SYSTEM RESTORE!!!!! It does not work correctly. TURN IT OFF!! If you want to make a backup of your system so you can restore it, use Norton Ghost!!! If you attempt to use system restore, it will leave your system in shambles!
