Often, in my papers, when I solve a problem for example, I cross out the solution that is right (which I have done first time n which I think is wrong!) n go and do a totally wrong solution. N so I get a C when all my teachers say I am brililant. They all say I have a phobia of failure but how do I get over it?! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or at home, when I'm cooking, I'm scared it will be a disaster and than it does beccome a disaster because I try so hard for it not to be a disaster. N no, I don't drink coffe or tea or anything like that. I get cravings for choclates/biscuits/chips/icecream/donuts....all junk food but I'm told thats normal with teenager. N no, I don't think I'm academically challanged or something because all my teachers say I'm great in class and have these brilliant ideas and everything. N let me tell you! studying science subjects plus additional math plus three additional subjects isn't boring. I LOVE IT. But I'm afraid I'll do misakes and than I go and do mistakes.

Sounds like academic anxiety. There are different degrees of this but it sounds like you have it serious enough for it to be a problem.

Consider where/when this anxiety started. Do you have a previous weakness/problem that has not been properly addressed, and your teachers are claiming that you are being too careless? That can send you into a big loop where you triple-check everything and suspect error because everyone was drilling into your head that you haven't been checking enough and you find yourself still failing, causing you to doubt yourself even more, so you check more... and it still doesn't work..... so you check even more...

The real problem might not be carelessness at all and you may have been chasing the wrong solution and fraying your nerves in the process when things obviously haven't gotten better.

Get some testing done for anxiety disorder, OCD and ADD. They're sometimes interrelated. The earlier that stuff is dug up the better.

Dont put so much pressure on yourself. You may be working yourself up, or causing needless anxiety for yourself.I have been told, I tend to over analyze situations too much.

They say go with your gut instinct, and most of the time you will be right. Some times one has listen, answer, and let the cards lay where they may. Be proud of what you are doing right, and learn from what you feel you need improvement on.

Keep a light heart about everything. Learn to feel good for the input you offer..and have a sense of humor about the issues you feel you might "fail" at. I tend to feel embarrassed if Ive "failed" ...Now, I just say I had a "blonde moment" and laugh it off and move on :-)

just relax.. meditate.. clear your mind.. sleep better at night..

I haven't ever been a tree-hugging hippy with any of my other answers.. but it seems like you are putting unnecessary strain on yourself here?
Lay off the caffiene some if you are chugging soda like crazy.. or if you really are brilliant put yourself in tougher classes :) that way you will have to train you mind to focus and be more attentive.. and this may eliminate your desire to second guess every second guess you are choosing to make. I was in the same situation in school.. I never challenged myself, and everything was waaay too easy because of it. That led me in all the wrong directions.. where was this website 12 years ago when somebody could have led me down the right path? shucks!

1. Think positive.
2. Relax.
3. Try to do easier things. You will be more satisfied if you make something by yourself.
4. Take a walk every day. It will help you clear your thoughts.
5. Do more exercise. Practise a team sport.
6. Play computer games. Not hard ones, they could diminish your self-esteem and increase your fears. And don't abuse.
7. Try to have fun.

Doesn't sound like a phobia of failure, but more like a lack of self-confidence, low-self esteem and little belief in yourself. Stop double guessing yourself. Always stick with the first answer, because you chances of having the right answer and changing it to a wrong answer is greater then having a wrong answer and changing it to the right answer.

You're being self-destructive and you need to find out why - they'll be a reason. If not, you are jeopardising your chances for your future. It could be that you don't feel you deserve success or that you relate success to something negative. What is it that you are ultimately afraid of?
