Austin is fabulous. The people, food, and things to do are great. If you love music, there's no better place.

However, keep in mind that it's still Texas. So, if you don't mind scorching humidity and heat in the summer, peppered in with the occasional redneck or two, then Austin is the place for you. Also, if you don't like that 'Berkeley' type hippy atmosphere, Austin would not be for you, either. Austin isn't known as the "island of liberalism in a sea of conservativism' for nothing.

Personally, I love Austin, I was born and raised in that area. I left primarily because I just needed a change of scenery. Plus, I had lived there for so long, I got tired of going out and seeing too many people that reminded me of my 'younger days' if you know what I mean. Austin's not necessarily a small town, but small enough to keep bumping into people probably more than you'd like to at times.
