I am just wondering how would you explain this story if you don't believe in God, miracles, or anything wonderful that he does in our lives. ( Please remember that he does not heal everyone and everyone has their own time to go be with the Lord, or not. That is part of his plan. Everyone has to die at some point. So please don't say, then why doesn't he heal everyone.)
Here is my story-
When I was little my mom had MS and was about to die. She could no longer walk, or do anything for herself. My dad and her best friend came and got her from the hospital and took her to a revival. That night she went to the alter and she was healed. No lie, she got up and walked and then ran around the building. She went back to the Dr.'s and they could find absolutely nothing wrong with her. She has never had another problem or anything to do with MS again. Explain that if there is no God. It has been almost 30 years.

I understand that people get better- but usually it is over time and with medication. My mom was on her death bed and the Dr.'s had already decided there was nothing more they could do. That afternoon was the same diagnosis from her Dr. and the test revealed the same- that night she was healed and the very next day there was nothing more in her body. That is not remission. That is not the work of your mind.

This a wonderful testimony of God's goodness. Please continue to share. Don't let non believers cause you to be discourage. You must tell others that Jesus is alive and is still healing others today. God bless.

I believe in miracles. I believe there are times when things happen that due to no other logical explanation, it could be God.

I'm so glad your mother had this miraculous recovery and that you have been able to spend 30 extra years with her.

I, too, know a person who was near death from what the doctors diagnosed as MS. She, in a matter of 2 years went from happy, healthy, and strong to being crippled and VERY sick.

When she finally went into the hospital she was taken completely off of processed foods and diet sodas. The minute she was taken off processed foods and diet soda, she began to recover. A friend of ours, who is a natural healer, told her, when she was discharged from the hospital, to not go back to her old eating habits and to avoid all artifical sweeteners. 6 years later, she is alive and well and has recovered to her former strength. The doctors say as far as they can tell, she no longer has MS. Not a single symptom.

Is this a miracle? I don't know. I know I believe that chemical content in food is poison and will kill people. It is a miracle that in spite of the medical community giving up on her, she found a way to continue life and get the chance to see her teen age son and daughter graduate from high school, and will likely attend both weddings. I just don't know if God had much to do with it.

The mind can be a very powerful thing. Sometimes when people believe in something so strongly, the brain itself "takes the advice from the mind" and follows suit---thereby healing the body itself somehow. :-)

I don't attribute that to deity, tho. I attribute to some form of powerful mind-brain activity that has yet to be explained. I am glad your mom is much better! :-)

Gaaah, marydazetwentyone, GMTA!!!! ;-) (Great Minds Think Alike!) I was writing this before I saw your answer! :-D

EDIT: Which is more important to you----that you revel in your mother's newfound health and enjoying your time together or trying to make some non-theists agree with you? Just a thought from my heart. I would not care what other people think and enjoy my time with my mom while she is still around. :-) Time is ever so precious, love. :-)

EDIT: Be secure in your faith....don't worry about what we think. If you believe deity healed your mom, then be secure in that. Why do you need validation for your belief? Be happy that your mom is healed. That is far more important. *hugs*

Your question asks 'if you don't believe in God' to explain how this could have happened. So, non-believers would probably argue that the power of the mind-body connection may have intervened and helped heal your mother. Or some with other beliefs, not necessarily Christian, may say that intervention of a different spiritual nature occurred. Just because a person is not a Christian does not dictate that they cannot believe in Miracles regardless of the origin.
I am glad for you and your family that this happened, regardless of my personal beliefs.

I agree with Jim Darwin. Can you provide proof? I can make stuff up too. I can also stretch the truth too. My grandmother had cancer. The first time it went into remission. The second time it came back (years later), they only gave her about 2 years to live. She lived for nearly 5. The day before she died, they said she wouldn't live through the night. She made it to the next morning (9am area) and then she died. Is that a miracle? No. It just happens.

These kinds of stories are not uncommon (either in a religious or other context). I have heard stories of folks who were diagnosed with cancer to tried to laugh themselves healthy and were successful in a short time. I have seen folks who had a stroke, who were told they would never walk again and they did. People want to say that is god at work - but it didn't happen in a church.

I think that we are all here of our own will and our own design to learn something that can only be learned on earth. I think that god is a divine energy source that makes it happen and I think that we are too (at our essence) - and I think that we can direct our lives with thought, meditation and prayer. I think that when we die our essence returns to this energy source (our soul is reunited with god).

I think that anything is possible in this world as long as we believe - and whether that is in god or ourselves or science or medicine, it is the belief (the Faith) that makes it all possible.

#1. No proof that a god effected a miracle. Something unexplainable and joyous occured, so it it natural for humans to assume it was a miracle

#2 -Doctors can not always diagnose MS appropriately. there might actually be a more correct diagnosis that was never made.

#3. I rejoice with you that our mother got her health back, whatever the cause, it's wonderful. continued good luck and happiness.

Even if we deny that God has anything to do with that miraculous healing, who can deny that there is someone out there that created everything from nothing it just could not happened accidentally. And who can deny that the one who created human beings is so great that we have the ability to heal ourselves in a quantum leap.

YOU can't Believe in GOD or HIS MIRACLE's till you get Born-Again. The mind is blinded by satan till that happen's, and when you do get SAVED, then you will be on THIS SIDE trying to explain to the UN-BELIEVER's that GOD is REAL!!!!! HAhahahahahaha, your time is acome'nnn--cause I'm Believing GOD that you WILL GET SAVED. Then I can teach you some thing's I have learned!!!!!!!!
YOU can live to be 120 year's old if you stick close to GOD, GOD does not "set a time for you to die", you determine that ALL BY YOURSELF!!!!!!(HE just happen's to know when that is, but HE didn't make it come out that way)
HE DID make it possible for EVERY-ONE to be HEALED-----the trick is to learn how to RECIEVE IT!!!! You gotta get ALOT of DUCK's in the row to get your own HEALING(with GOD helping you of course). WHY dosen't HE HEAL EVERY-BODY.???? GOD has shown me some thing's(in general) but now is not the time, but you can ask HIM, like I did......

That's a wonderful story and I'm very glad for you and your family. But there have always been spontaneous remissions in medicine. Because we cannot explain them scientifically (yet), does not then mean it therefore has to be because of god. There may be explanations that we do not yet have the capacity to understand. Yes, it could be god; but it does not have to be.

The Mind is a very powerful thing, if you believe enough it is possible that you will be healed....because you believe it will happen; it has been proven that beleiving something will improve our immune system.....the human brain has only been mapped by a very small portion so we do not know everything that we as humans are capable of
