The hours posted for Magnolia are:
· Mon 12pm-11:30pm
· Tue-Thu 9am-11:30pm
· Fri 9am-12:30am
· Sat 10am-12:30am; Sun 10am-11:30pm.

They are arguably the best in New York City. It's downtown in the Village so folks farther uptown frequent the Buttercup Bake Shop on 2nd Avenue and 52nd Street.

The cup cakes are a close second to Magnolia and just fine if you don't want to travel all the way downtown.

Choose a nice bakery on a nice street and you should be okay. Magnolia is a good one but I don't know the hours. Grab a phone book as soon as you get there and call. You could also get the number by researching the internet for New York Bakeries.

Magnolia cupcakes are worth the trip down to the village. On a weekend night, the line will be around the corner, and for good reason. If you luck out, you'll be there on red velvet cake night... dear god it's good.

Here's a video showing the line out the door...
