According to the Bible, hell is supposed to be this place where sinners are tortured with fire and brimstone, and a second death is by a lake of fire. Well, what if someone actually likes torture, fiery lakes and gnashing teeth, would it still be hell?
Is there also a hell specifically for masochists?
I mean, if we're supposed to take the Bible as the infallible word of God, then there is only one hell, correct?

No one has actually answered this question, yet. I'm amazed how some people just glaze over it and say "There's only one hell ..." Well, that's all fine, grand and glorious, but where do the the masochist go? They obviously can't go to hell because they like being tortured and punished.

There is only one hell. The bible tells us that God wishes that none of us would perish.

Your Question supposes several issues to be truth.
You suppose the New Testament is truth, and it is not. Truth is tied intrinsically with factual data and reliable multi-testimony, which the New Testament does not provide.
Infallible is not applicable to any doctrine of the New Testament.
Therefore, Hell as described in the New Testament should be considered a plagiarized teaching of any number of pagan religion myths, incorporated into the Church teachings to produce the desired affect of control of the masses of gentiles being converted into Christianity....the technique is called: Fear Control.
The Hell of the Hebrew Bible, is a description for the grave, the place wherein dead bodies are placed, and or buried which contradicts the New Testament hell, which is described as fire and brimstone and eternal torment.
I would dare say, that even a masochist might get a bit tired of being molested, burned, agonizing torment somewhat shortly after the novelty wore off...say in about an hour or so. Even the most jaded masochist would cry Uncle soon enough. Supposing of course there were such a thing as the Christian hell, which is the figment of fevered imagination at best...or worst. Thank GOD. sincerely

Hell is the holding area for the lost until the Great White Throne Judgment when all your deeds during this life are Judged by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you rejected Him and His sacrifice on the cross for you. You will be cast into the lake of fire with the devil, the false prophet and the fallen angels. Hell will be cast into the lake of fire as well.
I would recommend that that you read the King James version of the Bible. It contains the answers to your questions.
God the Father knew you before you we born in eternity past and when you were formed in your mother womb. We are born with a Soul that will live for eternity. We must decide as a free will agent to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior or not.
Our decision determines whether we spend eternity in Heaven or Hell.
I Pray that you make the right decision.
Jesus Christ Loves You.
God Bless you is my prayer.
David

According to most of the people that post in this religious section, I am going to rot in hell for eternity.
Now, do I really deserve to rot in hell for eternity. I do good things every day, I am a school teacher as well as a psychologist. I help children learn and I help people solve thier problems.
Just because I don't go to church and worship god all of the time means that I am going to rot in hell for eternity.
Doesn't that sound a little rediculous?

One hell and one lake of fire..Somehow I don't think that even a masochist will enjoy the lake of fire. Very sad place and no need to go there.

I'm not a Christian, but I've always thought that Hell was not necessarily as described in the bible if it exists.. We masochists (yes, I am one...lol) might end up in a place where the "tormentor" continually gets us ready for pain and then just says, "nope, not gonna do it"......lol

I personally think that hell is not a particular place - but a state of mind - and we all experience it to some degree - no matter who we are... Also - using this - one man's hell is another heaven and vice versa..

What you describe is NOT the Bible's definition of hell.
It is the Roman Catholic Church's definition of hell.
According to the Bible, hell is the grave ...6 feet under.
That's it, that's all.
No talk of wispy, shadowy things continuing to live on.
Game over!
