I mean:

* Does your head hurt?
* Do you feel physical pain?
* Is this what happens when you "think too much?"

Yes. And it happens more and more each time I open my math books. Seriously, but that doesn't stop me. My professor says that mathematicians are people who have a high tolerance for frustration.

And it is really worthwhile, when you finally realize that you have made progress, and are able to appreciate the beauty of a subtle and intricate theory.

The alternative is to not experience growth, and just grow stale.

Yes. Hearing others say things that completely oppose what I believe is always hard. I do get physical pain. The headaches are unbearable. But I always make sure I stay respectful because everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

I get the headache by headbutting my door frame in inconsolable frustration .. to answer your question.. yes, yes, yes ..
and staring at your monitor can also contribute to the agony .. go walk the neighbors goldfish once in a while.. take a brief mental vacation to clear your mind.. and the answers come much easier when you return to your contradicting theories.. overthinking leads only to frustration..and frustration leads straight back to contradictions..
Good Luck ..
As for me.. I am stubborn .. and my door frame is falling apart from the abuse :)

Do you mean, like,
"There is no Santa".
When I found that out it felt like my soul had been ripped out of me. My world crumbled.
I don't know what messed me up more, finding out that there was no Santa or being told that he died in a bus crash.
