I believe EOS stands for "Enhanced Optical System". All the EOS camera bodies are SLR, whether they're film or digital. The entire EF series of lenses will work with any EOS body except for a few "digital only" lenses that will only work with the digital camera bodies. The lens you're looking at is not one of them, and should work just fine with your T2.

I don't know what EOS stands for, although that's not really relevant to your question - it's just a product name (of course, I'm sure the Canon folks could tell you what it means), like the Nikon D70, the Olympus Stylus, etc.

SLR stands for "single lens reflex," and that's a kind of camera that, through a system of mirrors inside the camera, permits you to look out through the camera's lens when you look through the viewfinder. Cameras that are not SLRs are called compact cameras, and when you look out through the viewfinder of a compact, you're looking right out through a window over the actual lens that approximates what will appear in your picture.

As far as I know, all of the EOS cameras are SLRs - including the EOS Rebel X I bought in the early '90s. Your EOS Rebel T2 most definitely is an SLR, and Canon's 75-300mm zoom will be compatible with it.

I think all Canon EOS cameras are of the SLR type

SLR stand for single lens reflex. It just means that these types of cameras have a moving mirror between lens and film or CCD

Your camera is compatible with all Canon EF lenses

in case you elect some thing which couldn't cumbersome, you would prefer to seem at an E.V.I.L (digital viewfinder interchangeable lens) digicam, they are compact, and performance guide features and some have video, the region is, they have a smaller sensor, they don't use mirrors, so as it really is why they in reality have an digital viewfinder.
