Yes! If you don't sleep properly your body does not process the nutrition from your food the way it should, not to mention how out of whack it throws all the body's restorative efforts.
When you don't process food correctly the brain will keep sending signals that you're hungry to try and get you what you need when in fact what you really need is a few nights of good sleep!
Alcohol is a big culprit in sleep loss so if you're drinking --cut it out and you'll sleep 100% better.

If you aren't catching up on some zzz's, obesity and disease may be catching up to you.

Lack of sleep can affect the processing of food, the function of your heart, whether or not you gain weight and your chances for diabetes.

We need eight hours' sleep at night for a reason. It keeps us alert and makes certain processes in our bodies work.

Over time, a lack of sleep catches up with us and may cause our bodies to break down. People who don't get enough sleep actually appear to age faster.

Yes, it has been proven that sleep deprivation suppresses the hormone your body uses to indicate fullness called leptin. The more tired you are, the hungrier you think you are. That's why people who do not get enough sleep are more prone to eating high sugar foods (for the energy boost).

When you sleep, your body regulates the hormones your body needs each day. When you suffer from sleep deprivation, that balance is thrown off.

Getting enough sleep is an important part to weight loss because your system is not working on all cylinders so you will likely eat more to keep moving. One other thing that people don't usually think about, but it does happen, is that you may eat in order to simply stay awake because when you eat blood pumps to the viscera (spelling?) and you get slightly pumped from it.
