why does everyone think it would be wasted. we live our lives raising our children, and they can still end up messes up! does that mean we did it for nothing?

why is it so hard to believe he wants you to earn it. if you kill someone and go to prison, and you really are sorry that you killed someone, does that mean you should be let free, or should you be punished for what you have done. you had the information, and were to ignorant to do anything with it!

Jesus told the people, "My sheep hear My voice. And all who belong to Me will come to Me." I don't think He's too worried about those who want to go another way.

I know there is a God- so I am ok. But those who don't believe are wrong. To many things happen in Christians lives that can not be explained if there was no God. If people would just let God do his work in their lives, they too will see. But the sad reality is, there are a lot of people who don't believe and probably never will.
I will give you an example of what I mean.
When I was little my mom had MS and was about to die. She could no longer walk, or do anything for herself. My dad and her best friend came and got her from the hospital and took her to a revival. That night she went to the alter and she was healed. No lie, she got up and walked and then ran around the building. She went back to the Dr.'s and they could find absolutely nothing wrong with her. She has never had another problem or anything to do with MS again. Explain that if there is no God. It has been almost 30 years.

I don't know if it is wise to live for "what if's." What if you get hit by a bus tomorrow? What if you don't? What if you can never have children? What if all of the utensils for eating food suddenly disappeared? What if there is something beyond the black holes in space? What if the mailman doesn't deliver the mail? What if we all die of avian flu? What if I trip over my shoelace and hit my head? What if I get Alzheimer's? What if there isn't a God, what happens to the faith that has been one of the few things that has kept billions of people in line for all of these years? What if the original writings of the Bible were fabricated by men who only said they were "divinely inspired?" What if a group of men today say they are "divinely inspired" and decide to rewrite the Bible?

I think the real question is "Are you happy with who you are as a person and are you living according to innate knowledge that tells you right from wrong?"

That's the thing about most every aspect of life. What if?

You either live to the best of your ability and use your mind to make the choices... or you live in fear of making a mistake, crouched like a rabbit frozen in the middle of the road under the glare of the headlights of an oncoming car.

Look at life and after making a decision, be happy with it. But never stop trying to learn... you may someday find out you were indeed wrong no matter what you believe now. Keep an open mind but live your life while you have it.

I live for Him. I would rather "lose my life" now than end up in hell for eternity. And losing my life now, isn't really losing anything. I get a peace and joy from serving my God. It's funny, because the people who have really had a life changing God experience can never deny that experience. It's the people who are searching and searching for something, and never find it, but try to fill it with ANYTHING (drugs, sex, alchohol, self-denial, other religions, acceptance, good deeds, material things, etc.) that will die with an empty space, thinking that they may have missed something. And they have, they have missed the most wonderful thing in life. And God is forgiving, but he is just, and he gives you many oppurtunities to come to Him, but there is a point where you deny the Holy Spirit one too many times, and your chances are up. And you end up in an eternal hell, with the lake of fire and gnashing of teeth, and demons surrounding you, and suffering without end.

I'd much rather spend eternity in Heaven worshiping my precious God who saved my nasty soul, only because I said yes to Him.

Someone asked the same exact question recently and got completely creamed. So I'll just get you warmed up. What if you're an idiot and have been brainwashed? And do not know it? What if you're already in hell. There is no "other place"--no heaven either? P.S: I believe in God and love Him! Just not the imaginary one out in the clouds judging people, simplistically forgiving them if they "repent" at some point. Waiting "away" from us, for us to "return" one day. That is ridiculous.

I want to go from pennsylvania to california for vacation. I've got my airfare and everything. But what if that plane falls from the sky? Maybe I should go rent a car instead?

I'm not going to change my entire life because of a what-if situation. I'm going to continue to hold my beliefs until I die, because my soul whispers them even when I try to believe differently. I can follow no path but the one I am on.

And what if you're wrong? What if the Norse Gods are posted up in Valhalla laughing at all of us because no one got it right? Why don't you start worshiping them, just to be safe? Dedicate your life to them, so that your soul will be honored in the next life, just in case. (Put in that context, do you see why no one will change their mind based on this arguement?)

Ah, the old "what ya got to lose" argument. Are you willing to live as a fearful slave to something so dogmatic and unproven as a religion? If there is a God, and following him is so important, why didn't he facilitate a more convincing means of revealing his existence than the Judeo-Pagan hybridization of a homicidal 4th century emperor?

I rememeber a Catholic priest giving a talk to an atheist one time and he told her: "If you're right and there is no God, then we have nothing to worry about. But if I'm right and there IS a God, then boy are a lot of people in trouble!"

I believe in God and try to live my life for Him.

That's in philosophical terms what is known as Pascal's wager. He positted that it makes more sense to believe in God, because then you're less likely to be damned.

But in my mind, this is insufficeint. Why should I believe in a God that relegates people to firey agony for eternity becuase they were born in taipei and not colorado? I would rather be wrong than not question.

Will God be so unforgiving as to deny a person who has lived a life with strong ethics just because they do not accept anything purely on faith?

Then God is not worth worshipping.
