My friend has Asperger's Disorder, which is a form of autism. He seems to be very shy and wonders if he can ever have a girlfriend. Do you believe people with that condition would be turned down by a girl or woman for having that?

As a female - it's just as likely he'd be turned down because of that as someone would for being bald, or short, or too fat, or too skinny, or too talkative....see what i mean? Relationships are always about personal preference, so the answer of course has to be yes. But no more so than someone without the same disorder would be turned down for any number of other reasons.

I don't think they should, but a lot of people are ignorant and I think he may have problems. This is horrible but true.
Part of the effect of Asberger's Syndrome or Autism is that it makes it very hard for people who have it to connect to and/or to express their emotions - this makes it very difficult for someone to be in a relationship with them. It takes a person with a lot of patience and love to give.
So, the downside is that it might take a while for him to find someone. The upshot is that that person, once she's been found, will be better than most.

If the woman was the kind of woman he would want to be with, she would not turn him down...it would help if he fought against his shyness, and you had people tell him he was a great friend, need to know him more, talk more man...my brother is not autistic, but he is mentally challenged, he i outgoing and happy, fun to be around, and he means well all the time, and that's what counts for a person in that kind of situation.

He can definitely have relationships. Dan Aykroyd has a form of Asperger's and it's been said that Steven Spielberg does also.

There is always a person for someone in this world. There are people who have missing lims that are married or are slow. Its all in time and never be discouraged.

It all depends on the intelligence/ignorance of the person. I have a disability myself, and have been married almost five years now.

not if the woman likes him.. we all (every person included when i say this) have something wrong with us... why should we worry if someone likes us if we have a disorder.. i have migranes, restless leg syndrome, but my husband still loves me for who i am not what i have.. :D so, he likes someone, tell him to go for it.. it might be nervous at first, but if she likes him then they will hit it off.. tell him goood luck.. :D

If they look past what he has then yeah. If he tries to talk to people then it can happen that way too. People shouldn't think of him differently because something is wrong.
